Los Angeles-based Singer Vehicle Design recreates the classic Porsche 911 with modern technology

This is the 2011 Singer 911 by Singer Vehicle Design.

Looks a little older than that, doesn't it? Well, that's because Singer has set out to re-create/restore classic 911s, based on pre-1994 911 models.

The pictures here of this late 70s/early 80s era 911 tell much of the story and what a nice lot those photos are.

The rest of the news is that this car is for lovers of classic vehicles who aren't purists and can do without the outdated technology and bad mileage. Singer buys up pre-1994 911s and does the work of bringing them up to speed for today.

This 'restoration' is hardly authentic, and Singer also use the words 'reimagined' and 'reborn', as the Los Angeles-based firm uses modern goodies such as carbon fiber body panels to recreate the classic 911. Under the hood are updated powertrains that top-out with a 3.8 liter with over 400 horsepower.

Also part of this 911 are Brembo brakes and a Bilstein coilover kit for the suspension.

On the inside, is more new materials done in a variation-copy on the classic 911 interior with leather seats and an RSR steering wheel.

We'll let the photos say the rest.

if they are not crazy priced, i can see them taking 1% of porsches total sales lol...eventhough its not 911 purification, it is 911 perfection thats closer to 911 purification than contemporary commercialized 996 onwards

I absolutely LOVE this car! It's beautifully designed and looks very well made. I wish more people would do this type of modernization/restoration on old classics. If this car is priced close to modern day Porsches, I could see it steeling a segment of the market. Unfortunately though, I have a feeling this car is going to be priced WAY high.

It looks very similar to the one Chris Harris owns. Maybe it's the same car. Search Chris Harris dream porsche and you'll see it on youtube.

Yeah, this is hardly news though is it. I mean, they're doing the same thing they've been doing for a while and calling it 2011 because...well....that's the bloody year we're in! Chris sold his a while ago though.

The only way they can improve it is by...moving production to Germany... in the same area as Porsche.

timelessly handsome lines justified by excellent photographic angles . there's no killing an air-cooled Porsche 911 .

Surely Porsche will approve of this LA-based effort?! In fact, Porsche ought to be challenged by this work of art to go back to basics more often. After seeing all 86 passionately-taken pictures, I can tell you this 911 with 400 ponies will be feather-light and go like a bullet! I can honestly say (without a hint of irony) that the real 911 is back and with those microphone-looking flat-six cylinders and tortoise-style exits, a real Singer too!

When you think of Porsches the second place that comes to my mind is California...so it's fitting that LA is the birth-place of this great car. The Singer Porsche project is 2 years old I think. The prices were kind of steep $140K but at the time everything was customized so the price was really dependent on what you wanted...the same experience you get at the Porsche dealer and their long-list of options that doubles the price of the car! Great car though...
