Here are the latest spy shots of the upcoming 2013 Mercedes-Benz S-Class doing some cold weather testing in northern Europe.
The S-Class prototype spotted here is no longer a mule and can be seen testing alongside the current generation (W221) model.
From the shots of the front, even under the camo, we can get a pretty good idea of what that new front fascia will look like now that it's in line with Mercedes-Benz's new design paradigm. That includes the upright face, the new grille with the large brand badge in the middle and headlights similar to the recent CLS including LED indicator lights.
Also noticeable are the new side mirrors, rounded and less angular than the previous ones.
Reports indicate that Mercedes-Benz plans to offer the next S-Class range with lots of hybrid options. That would include a plug-in hybrid based on the S 500 Vision Concept with a 3.0 liter V6 and a 44 kW (60 PS) electric motor good for a fuel-economy rating of just 3.0 liters/100 km (78 mpg) while providing the S-Class with a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time under 6 seconds.
