Revving Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 underwhelms [videos]

Here's some interesting footage of several Aventadors parket outside. Looking pretty amazing in natural light, it appears the herd of bulls are getting ready to be shipped off.

A white Aventador is started up and revved with little fanfare. In fact, the exhaust sound is a bit underwhelming. However, this can be explained by a few possibilities such as the poor sound quality of the mobile phone used to take the footage, the dual-mode exhaust system in the "quiet" setting (if equipped), and that the vehicle was started cold which limits revs to 5000. When warmed up the full 8000 redline is available.

If you'll recall, we had a much better sample of the Aventador's sound in a previous teaser video but it seems that this engine really doesn't start to sing until it's past 6000 rpm.

Well, at least we get a nice view of the cool intrument cluster.

The reason it underwhelms is because the valves don't open. There is a short instance where the valves momentarily open at 10seconds. The engine is obviously not warm (the reason the red-line is at 5800rpm) and so they aren't going to get too frisky.

Non story. We already know it sounds good. This video just shows what a cold engine sounds like in a video shot using a cam phone. Nice dash though. I guess the Aventador headline gets you more clicks and therefore ad revenue. Pah.

Of course it's an interesting story, and every bit of "real-life-footage" is nice to see :-)

Love the exterior but its name pales in comparison to its predecessors, Aventador sounds like a nick name belonging to Col. Gaddafi

This is the first time I had properly seen the rear styling in a decent colour, the red was awful, and it looks astonishing. Incredibly sharp and ultra modern - Another epic Lamborghini. Also, the the instrument binnacle graphics are fantastic and is possibly only inferior to the masterpiece that is in the Lexus LF-A in that respect.

Because Lambo announced to the world press that they intend making the Murcielago replacement more 'efficient', it has become 20% more fuel efficient and the result is what you heard (or nearly heard)! The 993 911 Turbo with air-cooled flat-six has become water-cooled or tame, if you like. Raging Bull? More like Stoned Bull! Who would have thought that the mighty Lambo will one day be compared to a Japanese supercar in terms of interior quality?! How times change you narrow-minded buffoons!

My Lexus LF-A comparison comment was related to the graphics of the instrument binnacle. I realise I didn't say that but it has been corrected. Besides if the Lamborghini was more definitively compared to, the LF-A for example, on interior quality what difference would that make? It would be a supercar comparison and it would certainly not make a Lamborghini any less of a Lamborghini.
