SLK ad shows barefoot driver 'feeling' the road [video]

Ad for the 2012 SLK tries to convey how close to the pavement the roadster's ride feels

Mercedes-Benz is getting a little Zen with this new ad for the 2012 SLK model.

The commercial features a man running barefoot along the streets and roads where the SLK should be driving. He finally reaches his beloved SLK, sitting by the road with its top down, and gets inside. The video then cuts between him driving and flashes of the man running barefoot until he emerges from the car to feel the ground beneath his bare feet.

The point is that the SLK brings you closer to the road in a very concentrated and meditative way. The ad should appeal to Yoga instructors everywhere. Modern advertising really knows how to crawl into your brain, doesn't it?

The range-topping SLK 350 comes with a 3.5 liter V6 with an output of 306 PS (225 kW / 302 bhp). Base-model is the SLK 200 with a 1.8 liter turbocharged unit producing 201 PS (148 kW).

The SLK is currently available for order in Germany and goes on sale in the United States this summer.

Nice, except that it is illegal to drive without secure footwear in most countries.
