Redesigned A4 coming in 2014 or 2015

During Audi's annual press conference, the company revealed some interesting details about their future product lineup in the United States.

First and foremost, Audi plans to offer diesel engines in the A6, A8, and Q5. This is in addition to the TDI engines that are currently available in the A3 and Q7. Sadly, a diesel won't be offered in the A4 until the redesigned model is launched in 2014 or 2015.

Lastly, the company will sell an e-Tron in early 2013.  Nothing is official, but there is speculation that it could be the R8 e-Tron which would arrive just in time to battle the BMW i8 and Mercedes SLS AMG E-Cell.

As we have previously reported, the R8 e-Tron protoype features a 42.4 kWh lithium-ion battery which sends power to four electric motors that produce a combined 308 hp (230 kW / 312 PS) and 4,500 Nm (3,319 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the coupe to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, hit a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph), and travel 248 km (154 miles) on a single charge.

The A4, once feared replaced by the A5, is alive and well. It kept the C-class, 3 series and others honest! It will be my next car God-willing.

If you care about driving dynamics, the A4 would be your THIRD choice. If you've driven them all you'll know the A4 has inferior steering feedback, harsh suspension and a generally uninvolved feeling. BUT if none of that matters, go ahead, buy an A4.

Keep your diesels in Europe. We don't need any more airborne chemical pollution.

When the revolution is over in the middle east...you guys are going to have a hard time keeping anything on the road. Especially when oil is pinned to the Euro and Yuan, and not the dollar. It's going to be a long, cold winter America :)

@Hellbound. Have driven all 3 and simply state that once again, you are incorrect. And your comments lead me to believe that you have not driven any of them.

NEVER! Have we in the USA needed the clean diesel option...more than NOW! GSS5 is TOTALLY asinine and is spreading dis-information! I'm sure he knows the new clean diesels from Europe ARE less polluting than ANY gas offerings...they provide a smaller carbon footprint with great fuel economy! I believe HE is either on the "BIG OIL" payroll or Owns their stock...or maybe he's just a certifiable dunce ;)
