More powerful Audi TT-RS Plus on the way?

Internal Audi document shows a new TT RS variant with extra power coming called the TT RS Plus

Our thanks go out to Enno Reddies of independent Audi site Qarsi.de for this tip.

It appears that Audi may be preparing a more powerful variant of the TT RS.

According to an internal Audi document, which Qarsi.de was able to obtain, Audi is planning on a TT RS Plus variant to add to the TT range.

The document in question is the parts catalog, Ersatz Teile Katalog Audi (ETKA), a screenshot of which is included here. The catalog shows a variant called the Audi TT RS Plus Coupe Quattro 2,5 featuring 265 kW / 360 PS instead of the 250 kW / 340 PS of the standard TT RS Coupe Quattro.

But does a 20 PS (20 bhp) bump in power really mean that much? Well, according to Qarsi.de, it may be that Audi will also shed some weight from the TT RS through the use of carbon fiber parts just as it did with the R8 GT. The combination of extra power and weight-reduction would make for a marked improvement in performance.

According to the document, the new TT RS Plus model is scheduled for introduction in May. So we await the good news.

The TT-RS BTW is a perfect example of what sort of power can be generated from a fairly small engine. Audi have put many other brand manufacturers to shame. I understand a Jeep is a completely different segment of vehicle, but a freakin' 6 litre petrol when it could be 2.5 litre diesel just bugs me. Getting a little off-topic here but point is producing intelligently means lower fuel consumption, emissions and all that good stuff.

Oh my lord, the TT-RS is already bonkers. Where would you actually get to use the up-rated power other than obviously on the track? You'd eat autobahns in minutes with utter dismay - all over too soon.

What a stupid comment. No one cares about reading something like that on a car site... stop being such a girl or go comment on a Justin Bieber blog.

I've never seen Audi generating this much attention and sales before. It's their time to shine and it's taken just over twenty years to finally crack the prestige market in a big way. The TT-RS, as good as it is, may yet make way for the forthcoming modern Quattro!

They should have released a diesel plug in E-tron hybrid TT already...

So when will Audi be replacing the TT with a new model? This RSTT+ just smacks of Audi breathing more life into the model. Sales slowing down Audi?

Lack of power is not the issue here, never has been for the RS TT.Numb steering/poor feedback is the problem. This car needs a proper rear biased AWD system like in the R8,B8 S4 & it will be a genuine 911 competitor.

Every Audi I've driven has suffered from numb steering and poor pedal feedback. I admit I haven't driven the RS4.

Yes please. The TT-RS is actually my favorite car Audi currently makes. Forget the RS5, this is the modern day Quattro. A faster version would make me even happier.
