800 horsepower Gumpert Apollo on the track at Monza [video]

Videographer goes for a ride inside the Gumpert Apollo as it does its thing on the track

Here's a video, courtesy of YouTube channel Marchettino, of the Gumpert Apollo doing a few laps at the Monza circuit in Italy.

Marchettino also takes us along for a ride inside the machine on the track where we get a sense of the kind of noise and grip the car is capable of producing.

Marchettino reports that this is the only Gumpert Apollo in Italy, which makes Gumpert probably more of an exclusive brand in that country than the automaker was hoping for. This Apollo is a road legal variant modified to produce 800 PS (588 kW / 789 bhp) - same as the non street-legal race version.

The Gumpert Apollo is a high-performance supercar from the German specialty marque with a 4.2 liter bi-turbo, Audi-sourced V8 engine which produces 650 PS (478 kW / 641 bhp) in its standard configuration. A 700 PS (515 kW / 690 bhp) Sport variant is also available.

Dude, it's a gumpert, it has lots of whining turbos canceling out the engine. Plus there is alot of wind noise. If I had a 500000$ car, I wouldn't want to crash it.

Looks like the track might be a bit damp. I wouldn't want to floor an 800hp beast in those conditions especially considering its riding on semi-slicks at best.

It's a bit of an animal! The driver should have been either Tiff Needel or The Stigmeister not this cruiser!
