Lotus reveals GT concept which will serve as the basis for all GT2/GTE racers

The Lotus Evora Enduro GT Concept has debuted in Geneva, based on the Evora GT4 Endurance racer.

The Enduro was developed by Lotus Motorsport under the tutelage of head designer Nicola Scimeca and will be the basis from which all GT2/GTE homologated FIA-spec racers will be made. The new racer will make its debut in June at the 24hr Nürburgring ADAC race in Germany.

Lotus did not release any specs related to the car.

The previous Lotus Evora Type 124 Endurance race car featured a Toyota-sourced 4.0 liter V6 with an output of 395 bhp (295 kW / 400 PS) mated to a six-speed Cima sequential gearbox. It weighed in at just under 1200 kg/2646 lbs.

The aptly-named Enduro will also race at the Spa 24hr race in Belgium in late July and at the 24hr Silverstone race in October.

Lotus also plans to enter the Enduro in the endurance races in Dubai and Daytona in 2012.

The Enduro will be the base point from which the GT2/GTE homologated cars for FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) and ACO (l'Automobile Club de l'Ouest) endurance racing will be built.

Lotus Motorsport intend to contend the following endurance events this year:

  • 23 – 26 June 2011 Nürburgring ADAC 24 Hour Race (GER)
  • 28 – 31 July 2011 Spa 24 Hour Race (BEL)
  • 8 & 9 October 2011 Silverstone 24 Hour Race (GB)

The 24 hour races in Dubai and Daytona are on the list for 2012.

The Evora Enduro can be bought by private individuals and adapted for racing.

Beautiful! Love the return of black and gold, and the striping nicely plays up it's curves.

Makes you reminisce about the good old days of Lotus Formula racing seeing black and gold colour stripes on GT cars again! Proton's hands-off approach is really helping Lotus rediscover, reinvent and rejuvenate its heritage in modern times. Sexy.
