Ferrari FF takes a bow in Geneva

Ferrari FF takes a bow in Geneva
Ferrari FF live in Geneva - 01.03.2011

Members of the media finally got their first glimpse of the unusually-styled Ferrari Four concept, or "FF".  Revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, the FF uses a mammoth 651-horsepower (485-kW, 660-PS) 6.3-liter V12 engine, capable of delivering up to 504 ft-lb (683 Nm) of torque.

Love it or hate it, the car is arguably Ferrari's most practical car.  It features as much cargo space as a Mazda2 sedan, with 450 liters (15.9 cubic feet), a number that nearly doubles when the rear seats are folded down.

Being that it is a Ferrari, the car still has to offer exhilarating performance.  On its way to a 335 km/h (208 mph) top speed, it races from the line to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, according to the automaker.  A seven-speed double-clutch transmission and new Ruote Motrici four-wheel drive pretty much guarantee that every time behind the wheel will be a great time.

And your wallet won't get murdered at the gas pump, either.  The FF concept reportedly travels 100 km on 15.4 liters of fuel, or 15.3 mpg US.  However, the high 360 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometer will boost added taxes in a number of countries.

What do you think of the car?  Let us know in the comments below.

In Geneva debut of the FF, the first 4 seats and 4 wheel drive only for performance and versatility

The award-winning 458 Italy beat another record: emissions to 275 g / km, the best in class.

Geneva, March 1 - 81st International Motor Show in Geneva Ferrari introduces two important innovations: the revolutionary FF, V12 mid-front with four seats and four wheel drive which is the most powerful and versatile car in Ferrari's history, Italy and the 458 that the system Hele (High Emotions Low Emissions) lowers CO2 emissions to just 275 g / km.

This new level is a cut of as much as 15% and 458 allows Italy to win another record after more than 20 awards which were the attributes most prestigious magazines in the world is the sports car with the lowest level of emissions.

The FF is the highly anticipated world debut in Geneva, after the great interest raised by customers also preview held in Maranello and spread throughout the world via the web from www.ferrari.com.

With the FF changes the way you interpret the theme of Gran Turismo sports car. It 's the first Ferrari to four wheel drive but is primarily a model that is detached from the deep past being able to reconcile, for the first time, extreme performance with the usability of a true GT with a highly innovative design.

The ingredients of every single aspect of the car to start the engine, the first direct-injection V12, the F1 gearbox coupled seven-speed dual-clutch. Maximum output of 660 hp at 8000 rpm with maximum torque of 683 Nm at 6000 rpm, of which 500 Nm at 1000 rpm available. Performance is very sporty with the acceleration from 0-100 km / h in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 335 km / h. Excellent results in terms of efficiency, with measures that reduce overall energy consumption at only 15.4 liters per 100 km with CO2 emission of 360 g / km, 25% less than the previous V12 also thanks to the Hele ( Emotions High-Low Emissions), which provides among other Stop & Start technology.

Outstanding performance ensures that the FF even on soils with very low coefficients of friction with the 4WD system (4WD) patented by Ferrari. The couple is always supplied to the rear wheels and, thanks to PTU (Power Transfer Unit), part of it is transferred to the front axle in the amount and limited to the time needed to address low-grip surfaces. The FF manages the torque moment by moment and as a percentage variable to each wheel by integrating into a single unit of all vehicle dynamics controls installed: E-Diff electronic differential, traction control and precisely the F1-Trac PTU.

The extremely sporty driving dynamics are guaranteed in architecture with a transaxle (front mid-engine, gearbox and rear by the axis) and weight distribution with 53% of the weight on the rear. The painstaking work carried out to reduce the weight of the engine (new mergers) of the shell (new aluminum alloys and new manufacturing processes), and many other important components including the optimization of the interior such as the use of noble materials including magnesium for the seats and carbon ceramic Brembo brakes in third-generation, lightweight and durable, with a negligible consumption by road. This has led to getting the amazing power to weight ratio of 2.7 kg / hp, the best ever for a car of this type.

Designed by Pininfarina, the FF lines already offers uncompromising balance between sportiness and usability. It can comfortably accommodate four people thanks to the wraparound seating and spacious interior, with a luggage compartment of 450 liters expandable to 800 with the rear seats fold independently. The FF thereby exceed capacity for not only all the cars in the class, but also many 4-door sedans.

On FF everything is tailor-made, dedicated specifically to the tastes and needs of the guidance, from 6 exclusive colors to Frau semi-aniline leather, choice of the best and treated in an innovative way to enhance their softness. Rich the endowments that enhance the pleasure of travel for every person, which you can choose between the new rear entertainment system with two display for DVD and television or stereo system with 1280 watts of power 16-channel for the dissemination of music in Dolby Surround.

On the stand, along with three copies of a 458 FF and Italy, even the sports car with 12-cylinder 599 GTB Fiorano Ferrari California HGTE and elegant body Blu Tour De France. The V8 convertible has considerable commercial success and has the primacy of the individual model range. E 'on the fact that California is the widest requests customization tailored to each client's particular success with two-tone shades and hues-layer for the exterior and interior care with original combinations of materials, colors and finishes. This success demonstrates the particularly sophisticated and glamorous of this extraordinary car.

A practical Ferrari? Madness! If you want practical car get a VW Golf. Who wants a Ferrari hatchback?

I think Ferrari should learn to draw the line between 'firsts' and 'sacrilege'.

This is the point. The real Ferrari fans will buy this car (of course if they like it), not people wanting to show how much money they have.

If that car will make $$ for Ferrari (it certainly will),Enzo will be very happy (wherever he is). Racing was a priority for him, road cars were necessary evil only to fund the F1 team. He preferred to ride in a FIAT sedan anyway.

I don't get the point of this car either. It looks great though but still I think it would've been better if they used 4 doors instead if they really wanted to make this car practical.

Well I will agree with most of you, saying it is a special looking car. But it doesn't really look that bad. Never been a huge fan of Ferrari though, but they have really started taking the interior serious now, it looks so good! the 458's interior aswell, now it looks like a premium sportscar.

if you are meaning this has the same interior as the 458, you couldn't be more wrong, but if you are meaning the 458's interior is great, i cannot deny that!

No, I were saying that the interior of the two cars looks quite spectacular compared to the past models interior.. If you pay that much for a car, you would most def want a nice interior as well.

If I was Luca Montezemolo I would refuse to be photographed next to this embarassment to Italian styling & design.

I love the fact that we now have an all wheel drive Ferrari, and horsepower is great. I even like how it looks, but it's just a Z3 M on steroids! BMW has to be a little peeved about this, the similarities on the sidline and rear is uncanny. This does look awesome from the front though.

Think 458 Italia and you'll see what's wrong with this new car from Ferrari. Hyundai designs far better looking new cars nowadays!

The Ferrari 456 was a much better looking design approach than this a hatchback Ferrari weak at best. I don't think this will be very popular at all in fact I think this is going to be a bust and as for resale one of the least likely to hold any value. Many Ferraris appreciate in price this won't be one of them I am sure. Really bad not even the front end looks good not even the badge can save this one. A real shame.
