Base price in Germany for the Fiesta Sport S will be €18,090, including VAT.

COLOGNE, Germany, Feb. 14, 2011 - Ford is to introduce a new performance version of its best-selling Fiesta in Europe - the latest in a long line of fast small Fords aimed at driving enthusiasts looking to combine enhanced performance with sporty styling.

Based on the popular three-door Ford Fiesta, the limited edition Fiesta Sport + (which will be called Fiesta S1600 in the UK and Fiesta Sport S in Germany) is powered by an uprated
1.6-litre, Duratec Ti-VCT petrol engine producing 134 PS at 6,700rpm, with 160 Nm torque at 4,250 rpm. The Fiesta Sport + will accelerate to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds and achieve a maximum speed of 195 km/h.

Externally, the sporting pedigree is emphasised by a comprehensive body-styling kit that includes a unique front bumper with flared lower valence panel, extended side skirts, large rear spoiler and rear diffuser, finished with 17-inch, white alloy wheels. The newcomer's special paint finish is available in Frozen White or Performance Blue, with contrasting motorsport stripes.

The sporting style continues inside the car with heated, blue-stitched sports seats, standard side-airbags and leather steering wheel, handbrake cover and gear knob, plus Motorsport-branded floor mats and scuff plates.

Roelant de Waard, Vice President, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe, said: "Fiesta Sport + continues a 30-year sporting Fiesta tradition that began with the Mk1 XR2 in 1981 and it demonstrates the creative engineering that Ford is offering with this great small car. With more power and unique sports features, the limited edition Fiesta Sport + will appeal to all enthusiasts."

The Fiesta Sport + is initially available in five European markets: Germany, UK, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium.

8.7 seconds also happens to be the same time as a really big yawn.

There will be a ST version with s new Ecoboost engine. These are more economical and have a better HP rating as the old version. Estemation is somewhere around the 200HP.

Agreed that 8.7 secs is pretty woefull and anything but a sporty time. Adding stripes, a sports wheel and 17 inch rims hardly qualifies as "sports +" Try harder ford...we know what u are capable of.
