Video shows new 24hr N?rburgring-Nordschleife endurance racer in action
Here's a video of the Golf24 in action.
The Golf24 marks the return of VW's storied hatch to the 24hr race at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife after an absence of four years.
The video shows the hot-hatch testing on the track in its full racing guise with a large rear wing and wide-body wheel-well vents.
The endurance racer is a (permanent) all-wheel drive touring car based on the VW Golf VI which boasts an output of 440 PS (324 kW) from a revised 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbocharged VW Group engine.
The Golf24 will race at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife 24hr race which takes place from June 23 to June 26.

Why not replace the golf R with a golf R25, with the audi rs3 engine?

I'm in complete concourance with you, that is what I was saying (well, at least along those lines) from since the introduction of the 2.5 golf.

The jump from 2.0 TFSI to an R32 beast is massive! So, VW should at least consider two engine capacity variants for the Golf; a 2.5 and a 2.8 which was the capacity of the legendary MKIII VR6. This car reminds me of the 6.0 W12 Golf monster driven by the Top Gear team; epic!
