Next-generation Ceed model spied with some interior shots too

Here are the first spy shots of the upcoming next-generation 2012 Kia Ceed doing its final round of winter testing in the colds of Scandinavia.

Our spy photographers also managed to get a couple of shots of the inside as well, although, there was camouflage there too. But we do get a pretty good look at the interior styling with that shot of the rear seat, inside door panel and that tiny window on the C-pillar which is a distinct design feature of the Ceed.

The Ceed is Kia's Golf-class/C-segment entry for the European market that shares a platform with sister-brand Hyundai's i30 model. It may come to share some engines with that model too, including a 1.6 liter gasoline/petrol with around 122 PS (90 kW/121 hp) and 155 Nm (114 lb-ft) of torque, as well as a 1.7 liter diesel producing 115 PS (84 kW /113 bhp) and 255 Nm (188 lb-ft) of torque.

A livelier version of the Ceed could come with the 1.6 liter Gamma GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) turbo with 140 PS (138 hp / 103 kW) and 133 lb-ft (167 Nm) of torque as well as a top-power variant of that engine which produces an output of 177 PS (131 kW/175 hp).

The 140PS version of the 1.6 GDI engine has no turbo, the 177PS most probably has.

hints of Alfa-Romeo, Fiesta... if it is even better than the current Ceed then watch Kia soar even higher. I would not be surprised if Hyundai/Kia is in one of the top 3 manufacturers in 10 years time

In a way, this may be a preview of the next-generation Kia Forte hatchback for the US market, probably coming by the end of calendar year 2012 based on a slightly lengthened version of the new Kia C'eed. The US version will likely use the 1.8-liter "Nu" engine rated at 148 bhp (same engine as found on the 2011 Hyundai Elantra).
