Mercedes teases C-Class Coupe & SLS AMG Roadster [video]

In a surprise move, Mercedes teased the C-Class Coupe and SLS AMG Roadster in their first Super Bowl commercial.

While the vehicles only appear on screen for a few seconds, we can notice several new details about them. Firstly, the coupe - which has already been revealed in leaked photos - appears to be a C55 AMG with an optional panoramic glass moonroof. Additional information is scarce, but the car is expected to be powered by a naturally-aspirated version of the twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 from the S63 AMG and CLS63 AMG. Nothing is official, but rumors have suggested the engine will produce 422 hp (315 kW / 428 PS) and have multi-cylinder deactivation for improved fuel efficiency.

On the other hand, the SLS AMG Roadster looks pretty much as expected but the ad gives us our first glimpse of the car's roll bars. As we have previously reported, the super cabriolet will feature a 6.3-liter (6,208cc) V8 with 571 PS (420 kW / 563 hp) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. It will be connected to a seven-speed double-clutch transmission which will enable the SLS to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds and hit a top speed of 309 km/h (192 mph).
