G-Power Hurricane RS BMW M5 Touring hits 224 mph [video]

BMW tuning specialist G-Power first graced us with their record setting M5 Hurricane RS back in late 2008. After recording a speed of 367.6 km/h (228.4 mph), the 750 bhp (760 PS / 559 kW) sedan officially took the "fastest sedan in the world" record from the Mercedes CLS-Class based V12 BRABUS Rocket. Fortunately for G-Power, the vehicle to knock the HURRICANE RS off it's record setting throne is their very own M5 Hurricane RR which managed a top speed of 372 km/h (231 mph).

Fast forward two years and the V10 car with twin superchargers is still grabbing our attention as G-Power reps have forwarded us this video of another M5 HURRICANE RS based on the E60 BMW M5 Touring wagon hitting 359 km/h (224 mph) on a German autobahn.

Edited into the video you'll notice a small frame on the bottom right corner. This is showing the speed by the on-board PerformanceBox GPS datalogger.

Fake! Looks like it's doing 250 km/h max. Or all the other traffic is doing 200+ as well, and bridges are moving along!

It's fun/interesting/entertaining until something unbelievably tragic goes wrong and lives are ruined.  That's when our responses will be very negative and disapproving.  Until then, we're all going to just grunt and say 'cooool'.

very responsible of them to drive at that speed on a public road- what if someones overtaking one of those lorroes at a lowly 130 km/h? having said that 224mph is achieved in near silence which is pretty impressive.

Videos like this from G-Power will kill one day the speedlimit-free driving on Germany´s autobahn. Dear Gustav from M5board.com: Please do this kind of driving at home on your swedish roads and don´t endanger german car drivers !!!

To be honest I couldn't care less if it did 400 mph - what person wants an estate car to do 224mph? It's very dangerous....that's why supercars look the way they do.

Alright daughter with loose grasp on the concept of physics... I'll tell you what the difference is. Supercars are engineered to attain that speed... the aero, the suspension, the brakes, the chassis. Everything is designed to work together. You can not be expected to understand how complex the engineering that goes into real supercars are.

And guys from G-Power left suspension and brakes stock... At least they don't burst in flames like some supercars

and as the song says: just spread your wings and fly... seriously now, simply watching this video gave me goose bumps... I can almost taste the adrenalin rush at 350 km/h... be cause I must admit that when I'm on a no speed limit highway section and no traffic, I'm a speed freak too...

I can't wait to put the child seats in the back of this and take off with my wife in the passenger seat for a quick trip to an ice cream parlor in Denver or maybe Seattle.
