Porsche has set the goal of 200,000 vehicles by 2018 and the Cajun is expected to be the anchor in doing so.
With the official green-light given to the the entry-level crossover in November, the Cajun is designed to attract new and younger customers. The Cajun will be an "efficient and sporty model" with "typical Porsche features such as light weight, ease of handling and agility." Furthermore, the crossover will be based on the Audi Q5 and feature styling influenced by VW design boss Walter de' Silva.
The Cajun is expected to be launched in 2014 and will compete with the Mercedes GLK, BMW X3, and Land Rover Evoque.

I was never a huge fan of porsche, but it's sad to see them becoming more and more like Audi...

I rather have Porsche succeed than have them fade away. It's the time where all manufacturers have be competitive with growth or else close shop! Therefore, VW most see that their investment in Porsche is well planed out for growth along with their other subsidiaries.

while this is a very premature and vague rendering i see some interesting things with the front end styling. the back is 100% cayenne which is not so good

Only good thing about this car is that it will make the Panamera look good

I dislike headligts and front bumper. Also it looks too short

I just dont understand what this vehicle does? Carry 2 bags of groceries through the snow? It looks to have all the cargo space of a vw golf

And I don't see famailies across Europe shruggng their shoulders wondering how they'll make do with the space its got.
Who ever drives a car four up with full baggage? I see plenty of Cayannes being driven around with one up. Anmd there's plenty of empty X3 drivers would probably go for a Porsche instead, but wouldn't have chhosen a Tiguan.

Ghastly in every way. Even if it does look like that - which is highly unlikely - its existence will be a travesty.

As disturbing as this is, why would they not create more variants of their best selling model?

Here's an impression I did when the speculated name was 'Roxster':

Maybe I am missing something. It seems the only reason to buy a Porsche that is based on Volkswagen or Audi, which isn't a sports car and doesn't have boxer engine, is to get some sort of illegitimate cachet. The paradigm is that something that is based on a VW and doesn't have a boxer engine really isn't going to give you much "illegitimate cachet". It is all kind of pointless.

this rendering looks better than any other production cayenne or any other tuned cayenne. amazing, some kid in photoshop can do a better jab than multi-billion e car company.

true , but can that kid calculate the aerodynamics of his drawing, the cost of shaping the materials or the safety features ?

3-door crossover, I don't know. I think they should give a 5-door alternative just like Land Rover did.

The Porsche Cajun exists solely for financial reasons much the same way the forthcoming Audi Q1 does. It's the only way these car companies can survive!
