Aston Martin One-77 already being delivered to customers?
Aston Martin One-77 - 31.1.2011 / GTSpirit

Production model spied in Monte Carlo

After years of hype, it appears the first customer has taken delivery of their new Aston Martin One-77.

While it seems unusual for the company not to promote such an event (they sent out a press release for the first delivery of the Rapide), a black One-77 was spotted in front of the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo wearing non-manufacture plates. This seems to imply the car is a retail model, but we cannot confirm it.

Regardless, the supercar features a 7.3-liter V12 engine with 750 hp (559 kW / 760 PS) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. Official performance specifications haven't been announced, but the One-77 is expected to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 220 mph (355 km/h).

I'd say that the design is one of the top ones of our day. It is modern while evoking the Aston Martin's great heritage. It's proportions are a little different because of the layout of the power-train, but they work well to my eyes. I really like that they they were able to use smooth curves in a way that doesn't look retro. Even the trademark grille looks cohesive and right with the design. Unlike so many storied companies products it is not an awkward stick-on that greatly comprises aesthetics for brand identity (think Veyron).

I agree that this is one of the cars that needs to be seen in person. It's different, no question about that.

Does Aston REALLY need this model? I can?t help but think that the money spent developing this car would have been better spent improving the Vantage/DB9 models.New AMG sourced engines & new interior would make Aston a real rival to German sportscars.

It is not a car born from need. It's meant to be an ultimate expression of Aston Martin's ethos. In short, it's the Astonest Aston that ever Aston'd. Besides, unless they spent more than ?92 million developing it, they'll make their money back on the 77 ?1.2m cars. Their own engines are good enough already. The One-77's V12 is the most powerful naturally aspirated engine... In The World. They sound fantastic too. Oh, the noise they make...

It's gorgeous, a mile away from the usual bespoiled slabs that half of the supercar makers build. Curvy and sensual... feminine and masculine

I feel like James Bond would feel seeing this thing in his garage; privileged! The One-77 shows Aston Martin still knows how to make exclusive GT cars with quintessential English craftsmanship and engineering. The interior may be beautiful, but the exterior (and engine character) are all beast from the front, but again all beautiful from the derriere. Fabulously epic proportions with price tag to match.
