With Skoda sales on the upswing, a new report is indicating the brand from the Czech Republic will get a rebadged version of the Volkswagen Lupo / Up.

Details are limited, but the vehicle will be virtually identical to its German cousin with only minor styling changes differentiating them. This means we can likely expect a revised grille, unique headlights, and modified bumpers.

Under the hood, a variety of engines will be available. Nothing is official, but choices are slated to include a 1.0-liter petrol and 1.2-liter diesel with 75 PS (74 hp / 55 kW) as well as a 1.2-liter TSI with 86 PS (84 hp / 63kW). Eventually, an electric-only version will be launched with an electric motor that produces approximately 82 PS (80 hp / 60 kW) and 210 Nm (155 lb-ft) of torque.

The unnamed Skoda variant will be built in Bratislava, Slovakia and is scheduled to go on sale in early 2012.

I fear the Up is going to be a big disappointment compared to what was originally suggested. I hope I'm wrong.

Unfortunately, its not poent is it going to be rebadget or rear WD (last RWD VW was 1972). IT is not looking as concept car Up! Because it is going to be Skoda is even a plus because we will pay less for same!
