FT-86 II Concept will debut in Geneva - FT-86 production model is expected to debut in November

Toyota has announced that the new FT-86 II Concept will be debuting at the Geneva auto show in March and the automaker has released this teaser image of the upcoming model.

Beyond this teaser image, Toyota does not provide any further details but it's interesting to note, given the delays in bringing this model to production, that Toyota is still referring to it as a concept and has labeled it the second iteration of the FT-86 by adding the 'II' numeral.

The FT-86 is being developed jointly by Toyota in partnership with Subaru, which will have its own FT-86 variant. That model is said to feature a turbocharged 2.0-liter with 260 hp (194 kW / 264 PS) but it will not be an all-wheel drive - only rear-wheel as will be the Toyota variant too.

Toyota will sell the FT-86 in the United States under the Scion brand in order to coax younger buyers into the new sport model.

The production Toyota FT-86 is expected to debut in November.

Well, what I am seeing could be the pre-production model of the FT-86 (similar to what BMW does for its new 6-series). Nevertheless, I hoped the latest 'concept' will not be heavily-revised because I liked the previous model's exterior design - very much.

Part of me wants to get really excited about this. A rwd coupe, boxer engine with turbo. Sounds great! I just hope it can be (relatively) serious and not watered down by the time it hits the showrooms. I think both Subaru and Toyota need some type of "halo" sporty(s) car!

Isn't that then FT-III? The first must have been the Toyota FT-HS Concept (2007)

The previous model looked better. Somehow those lamps are too wide. I hope I'm wrong but I liked very much the previous model of FT-86.

I really hope that is just rumor and they keep this as a toyota. If it comes as a scion it will definetely be diluted. Toyota needs to bring back their sports legacy within their name. I miss the good ol sportscars Toyota used to make. AE86, Supra, celica-supra, and the MR2.

You know WorldCarFans hates Toyota when they use words like "COAX" to describe Toyota's intentions. Never seen them talk like that about.. say, their favourite brand, VW/Audi.
