Porsche CEO reveals new details about future lineup

Cayman Targa under consideration

New details are emerging about Porsche's future product lineup as CEO Matthias Mueller recently sat down for an interview with Automotive News.

While company's new product strategy won't be finalized until March, Mueller stated "We have a good opportunity to get new products to increase volume and revenue." He added, "We are [also] analyzing our chances in different segments."

A cornerstone of company's goal to 200,000 vehicles annually, by 2018, is the recently approved Cajun. Essentially a Porsche-ified Audi Q5, the Cajun will feature sporty handling and a design influenced by Walter de' Silva.

Besides the Cajun, Mueller wants an entry-level roadster which will be a modern interpretation of the 550 Spyder. As we have previously reported, the car will likely use components from the next-generation Golf VII and be powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with upwards of 360 hp (268 kW / 365 PS) in Turbo guise.

Other potential models include a Cayman Targa (rendered) and a Panamera Coupe / Convertible. However, in the short term, Porsche is focused on launching redesigned versions of the Boxster, Cayman, and 911 as well as the new 918 Spyder.

Special thanks to WCF member DdW for the rendering!

well I think its a great idea to expand on the product porsche produces, and even though many people protest to the notion that porsche builds too many 911's they must be selling for future prospects like this to be even thought or rendered. Cayman Targa...Awesome, and Panamera Coupe, wicked, convertible not so much

Thanks Brian and team for the news posting! I believed the proposed Porsche Cayman Targa production version would look similar to my render.

The platform sharing at the greater VW group tells you what's coming. Next golf platform will be shared by A3, TT and probably entry level Porsche. Caymen platform will give rise to Audi R4. Panamera platform maybe used for A9 and Lambo estoque. Somehow i also see a smaller Porsche sport sedan like an A5 sportback around 2015...

Sounds great but would it not be fantastic to see one of Porsche's siblings get that 2.5 Boxer 4 pot, namely the next Golf.
