Alfa Romeo teases 4C GTA Concept as alleged photos leak

Few details available on the upcoming Alfa Romeo concept

Alfa Romeo has released this first teaser image of the upcoming Alfa Romeo 4C GTA Concept which it will be debuting at the Geneva auto show in March. Simultaneously, unconfirmed images have surfaced claiming to be the GTA concept.

Details on the concept are few but, interestingly enough, news is that the 4C GTA is based on the KTM X-Bow, which is in line with previous reports of an X-Bow based Abarth Coupe. However, the rear-wheel drive concept is envisioned as an affordable successor to the 8C Competizione.

Power will come from a 1.8 liter, four-cylinder TBi 1750 (turbocharged) MultiAir unit with an output of around 265 PS (261 bhp / 195 kW). While this is no match for the 8C's 450 hp (336 kW / 456 PS) 4.7-liter V8, it could point to the fact that the concept is production intent.

With all of these clues in mind we can't help but recall the Pininfarina Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta Concept which debuted in Geneva 2010.  In particular, the leaked photo of the front end bears a striking resemblance to the 2uettottanta concept.

The report accompanying the alleged leaked images state the production version will be named the Alfa Romeo 1750SS, also consistent with information released on the 2uettottanta concept a year ago.

We hope that more will be revealed with the next few teasers.

Whatever they name it, this Alfa has to come out swinging coz Alfa has lost its desirability somewhat. Teaser photo is idiotic!

WTF..261 bhp from a 1.8L Turbo? That's damn good. I hope Alfa does it, they need a light and nimble sporty car. The Brera is a sheep in wolf's clothing.

I hope this doesn't end up looking like a flatter Brera. I want something that's pretty with a bit of handsome thrown in rather than brutish and menacing.

Alfa only has like 4 models in the lineup, they have to expand their range and they have to do it fast, if they want to be taken seriously in the premium segment. They also need an SUV and RWD 5 Series competitor. Pronto.
