German tuner will fit its own supercharger system to the BMW M3 GTS racer

G-Power has received its first M3 GTS for it to tune to its oil-pumping heart's desire.

The German tuner had to wait a while before it could get its hand on a BMW M3 GTS. After all, only 220 units of the M3 GTS have been produced since the model was announced in late 2009.

Now the first of 3 units has arrived and G-Power is promising to bring total output to more than 600 PS (441 kW) by means of a modified version of its G-Power SK II CS supercharger system.

The standard BMW M3 GTS features a 4.4 liter V8 with 450 PS (331 kW / 444 bhp) - dialed up only a marginal 30 PS (22 kW / 29.5 bhp) over the standard M3. It comes with the 7-speed M dual clutch transmission (M-DCT) and is outfitted for racing with carbon fiber aerodynamic parts, lightweight body panels, a titanium exhaust, race suspension, roll cage, racing bucket seats and a six-point harness.

And G-Power just can't wait to get its M3 GTS out there on the club racing circuit to go up against the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

More details are sure to follow.

Just arrived: The first out of three BMW M3 GTS that are announced for January has just arrived at G-POWER

21.01.2011

The BMW M3 GTS seams to have all it takes for being the ultimate BMW M3: lightweight body parts, carbon aerodynamic parts, titanium exhaust, racing suspension, roll cage and racing bucket seats for six-point seatbelts. BMW is right when they call it an "extreme athlete for street and racetrack".

But there is one thing it is missing. The ultimate output. An additional 30 hp compared to the standard BMW M3, that costs just half the price of the M3 GTS, is not too bad, but the ultimate output for the M3 GTS can only be provided by G-POWER.

That is why the first couple of BMW M3 GTS, out of the limited edition of 220 unites, have started to arrive at G-POWER for their output enhancement. A specially adapted version of G-POWER's SK II CS "Sporty Drive" supercharger system pushes the factory output of 450hp to a more suitable 6XXhp.

After this modification the BMW M3 GTS can finally show the armada of Porsche 911 GT3 RS who's the boss at the various clubsport racing events.

Right now the first of the announced BMW M3 GTS has just arrived at G-POWER. Two more are already on their way. So a little piece of advice for the "competitors" of the G-POWER trained BMW M3 GTS: prepare yourself for a rough ride...

Would like to see the price tag on this. My guess is that for the money there would be many better options out there.

I agree with both of the above comments - the M3 GTS is overpriced to start with and G Power will lob another 100 grand or so on for their efforts which quite frankly is ridiculous. Personally a Nissan GT-R with 523 bhp is better or a Porsche GT2 RS. Why would someone spend so much money on a performance BMW only to get some German mechanic in some industrial estate with an ego to start bolting on bits here and there and typing a figure on his laptop? I would rather the BMW engine with the lesser power amount and the money in my back pocket cos if I had the money for one of these I could buy something faster rather than tune this up.

I definately like the look of my alpine white 335ic, while the M3 looks better this GTS has more in common with a kids tricked out Honda. It's ashame because the engineering is so world class.

The GTS is priced that way for a reason. If you want to compare prices/performance to gtr, understand you can easily get the same HP out of a normal M3.
