At a meeting of U.S. Chevrolet dealers the model was referred to as the 'HP Edition'

Details on the upcoming Camaro Z28 have been leaked from a U.S. Chevrolet dealers' meeting.

Camaro5.com got the scoop from source BeckyD@RodgersChevrolet.

The details are as follows:

The Camaro Z28 is being referred to internally as the "HP Edition" and was solely called by that moniker during the meeting.

Production begins on January 1st, 2012. Still a year away if you happen to be waiting on one.

Under the hood will be a 6.2 liter supercharged engine. The HP Edition will be fitted with a Magnetic Ride suspension and come with 285F/330R tires.

The hood will have a louvre/slat design (which has been spotted in previous spy shots) and the interior gets modest updates with brighter trim-work.

Now, to speculate, GM may decided that the 6.2 liter LSA V8 from the Cadillac CTS-V may be just the right fit, perhaps with some small modifications, for the next Z28. That engine produces 556 bhp (415 kW) and 551 lb-ft of torque (746 Nm).

That's it.

I wish I was still in Canada so I could get my hands on one of these (and be able to fill it up with gas). I doubt they are going to be releasing it in the UK.

weirdest camouflage I've ever seen. you can almost see the shape of the car and the grill design.

This car is really cool to look at from a distance, but I would never own one. The camaro is a death trap, with its high beltline, coffin shaped windows and big I cant see around ass, they are not a daily driver friendly car. In fact we rent the camaro and there have been a number of times when customers bring the car back saying its to hard to see out of or dangerous changing lanes in or to hard to back up or paralell park in. for the above stated reasons. I do think the Camaro has beautiful lines, better than the Stang or the challenger, but... I would never buy one.... Well okay maybe a convertible LOL

Certainly not the best camouflage; the Germans probably rule on that one!

I'm really not sure about the name, hp edition, sounds quite lame for a 550hp muscle car

They dont really need to camoflauge it! Its just a camaro with a new hood & engine. too bad you need to be 5'8'' tall or less to fit in one of these!
