Spy photos taken under the lights of a fuel island provide a clear view of the next F10 M5

Here are the latest spy shots of the upcoming 2012 BMW M5 (F10) caught during a fuel-up while cold-weather testing in Northern Europe.

As this set of shots were taken with the M5 sitting idly under the lights of a fuel island at night, they give us a very clear view of the car. We get close enough to make out the shape of the new fenders and skirts from underneath the camouflaging tape.

We also get a shot of one of the 19-inch wheels along with its shinning metal cross-drilled brake disk and black caliper. Camo on this M5 is almost a style of its own.

Also, our spy photographers report seeing the new speedometer which reads up to 320 km/h (199 mph).

The next M5 will be fitted with a 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 with a reported nice and even output of 600 PS (592 bhp / 441 kW). The 0 to 100 km/h is said to take a mere 4.4 seconds, a number that neatly matches the engine's displacement. Is BMW getting a little OCD?

The 2012 M5 will likely make its debut at the Frankurt motor show in September.

looks great...like really good. but if anyone has heard the X5M/X6M's exhaust, with the same 4.4 twin turbo, I personally think it sounds a little weak. m5's always sound great so i hope they did a little tweaking to the exhaust note on this puppy

This M5 will be so fast....it's hard to imagine but back in the day a Ferrari F40 had 480 BHP....this has 592 BHP!!! When you have that much power nothing this side of a Veyron can embarass you regardless, ok there may be cars out there that could out accelerate it but not by too much. It will be interesting to see Merc's response. Both the new E63 and forthcoming M5 have twin turbo powered engines meaning that it is relatively easy to tweak up the bhp. With supersaloons like this it kind of makes the Maserati's and the Aston Martin's of this world a bit more redundant - no one wants to be sitting in their Aston only to get blown away at the lights by the guy in the M5 with the babyseats in the back.

Agreed - These modern "M5's" (The M5 made this category) is really a sort of practical version of the Astons ect. Think that might be the reason why the brands like Aston is making the Rapide and models like that... The M5's is really starting to eat in...

Trust me ladies anybody who can afford a Aston Martin or Maser is not going to be worried about racing like some boyracer at the traffic lights.Dont think either of you have ever driven or even sat in an Aston or Maser there is no comparison with a lowly M5.Its like comparing some hot chick you pick up at your local nightclub to a Victoria Secrets supermodel. BMW zombies when will you stop huffing the blue propellers tailpipe.

@Johnluke: I have driven both the Quattroporte GTS and the M5 V10, and had a long ride on some great roads in an Aston. For you to qualify the M5 as lowly against the Quattroporte shows that you have not sat in either, probably even less so in the Aston. The M5 is in no way lowly compared to the Maser. The M5 handles better, goes faster, grips harder, and just feels better than the Maser. But because you haven't driven either, you clearly don't know. The Maser is very good (I happen to prefer it over the M5 because it is more stylish), but one thing that you know for certain when you drive the M5 is that it was built to be a supercar with 4-doors, and that is what it is. On another note, I would like to point out that this is a clear example of when someone shows praise towards BMW, who happens to make excellent cars, he is automatically labeled as a fanboy. That's pure garbage.

What I believe johnluke was trying to express is that the Italian and English cars are more "emotional" in their presentation and delivery. If that IS what he was trying to express, then I agree whole-heartedly with him. However, that does not mean the Germans are inferior, they just take a more clinical approach to performance. It all comes down to personal preference. Comparing a Maserati designed 10 years ago to a German sedan thats two vehicle generations past it is just apples to old-apples. I'd assume the new Quattroporte (whenever it FINALLY arrives) would be, at the least, equal to the performance of the (then) current German cars. And, 600HP in a factory 5 series is RIDICULOUS! I'm as big a petrol-head as the next guy, but 600HP...seriously?...thats just what those BMW driving douches need...

I have a 08 Maserati Gran Turismo, 07 Aston DB9, and a 05 Lamborghini Gallardo other than exclusivity they are not really that much more special. More expensive mass produced cars have better fit and finish and you to not get keyless go or a great bluetooth, navigation experience that you receive in BMW, Etc. I still love the cars anyway. Of course, when you take them in for service you do not get a BMW, MB but a Ford or a Nissan.

My daily driver is a 2010 BMW 335i convertible. It is fast enough and people do not bother me. When you start buying cars with over 5oo horsepower you can not enjoy the car too much around town because you develop speed so fast and we have too much photo radar in Arizona

Can't wait for the M5 to go head to head against the new CLS63 AMG. Both are turbocharged 500+bhp V8 4 doors, winner take all.

It looks like a 5 series M sport. Which is good M5's are supposed to be discreet. Why don't Lada make a M5 competitor.

Hope it ends up looking better than the new 5er m sport coz that was a bit of a disapointment after the beast that was the 5er m sport e60 (go on someone say its ugly, but i like it)

Let's wait and see what it'll look like. Wasn't it that BMW desingned the F10 to be more conservative than the E60? Somehow the word conservative doesn't make justice for 600 hp M5... ;D
