MINI Paceman concept approved for production
Separate Countryman Coupe also confirmed?
According to a recent report, MINI will build a production version of the Paceman concept.
Speaking with Automotive News, BMW board member Ian Robertson said "We will take this car into engineering now and over the next few months we'll firm up the exact launch date for it."
Oddly enough, Robertson also remarked the Paceman would go into production sometime after the Countryman Coupe is launched later this year. This is a little strange as the Paceman itself is essentially a Countryman coupe, so it will be interesting to see how MINI differentiates the two models.
Regardless, the production Paceman will have a "very, very strong" resemblance to the concept and likely offer a full assortment of engines.

I really like it. But I agree, I don't understand how this would be different to a Countryman Coupe

I'm impressed at the speed in which BMW/MINI are getting concepts into production these days! I'm all for it... well done. The others can learn from this.

The MINI product expansion programme should be applauded not derided! It creates a future for the brand and potential new customer base. It should be dynamically brilliant to ensure its true purpose; Cooper-on-stilts!
