Debuts in Geneva

A member of the Ferrari Chat forums has caught a mysterious 612 Scaglietti replacement prototype undergoing testing outside of Maranello.

While the car is heavily camouflaged, there appears to be a 458 Italia-inspired front fascia, a four-tailpipe exhaust system, and a prominent rear hatch. This jives with previous reports, but the photographer says the latter item is part of the camouflage as it "inflates and deflates at speed."

Set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the 612 successor will likely feature an advanced all-wheel drive system, a seven-speed double-clutch transmission and a 6.3-liter V12 engine with 670 hp (500 kW / 679 PS). This should enable the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 335 km/h (208 mph).

Could it be a breadvan revival?

Ferrari did this last time when the california was due and it had a over sized back top on it for the metal folding roof to move up and down without being seen. Wonder if it's the 458 Spyder or a concept V12 Convertible with a metal folding roof. A few people were right last time with the metal folding roof or a syder version of the california

I think you could be quite right, just take a look at the roof itself. The way in which it is covered from the public is as if they want to keep you from seeing how the seams on the top of the car come together, as if they are trying to keep you from seeing if it is a convertible or hardtop.

It usually is and you won't regret it if you love car shows. Up until the recession, Geneva was the place to be if you wanted to see some of the most radical concepts put out by the European brands and often was the place where they would be revealed. Now that smaller brands such as TVR are closing up shop there are fewer cars to see there, but it is still quite worth it (even coach builders use it to demonstrate their talents and options).

When hell freezes over; Enzo never wanted Ferraris to be buit with 6 or 4 cylinder engines and technically the Dino was built by Ferrari, though it never officially carried the Ferrari badge. Most Dinos that had the badge on them had it done so by Dealerships or aftermarket options, but they never had the prancing horse badge, rather one that said Dino in black letters upon a yellow box. If they do build it, that would be going against the wishes of their founder and against the wishes of many Ferrari owners.
