Corvette C7 rendered by college student
Set to be launched in 2012
The Corvette C7 is one of GM's most closely guarded secrets, but college student James Robbins decided to take a stab at what it could look like.
Drawing inspiration from previous 'Vettes, the renderings depict a stylish model which features an aerodynamic design and LED lighting units. While the silver car is a tad more realistic, all the renderings were nicely created so a big hats off to James.
As we have previously reported, the next-generation Corvette is expected to be an eco-friendly flagship which will be smaller and lighter than the current model. It is scheduled to be launched in 2012 with a double-clutch transmission and, possibly, a turbocharged V6.

ahh look it's just another boring Vette design, ok, granted its done by a student and for that I say great job on the design. but please if your going to design a new vette, then design a vette not the same boring model with a few face lifts.

The front looks retarded. It looks like that stupid viper from the TV show - "Viper"

There's absolutely no versatility in exterior design for Vettes. Just a more modern look, and sleeker style is all! DISAPPOINTING!

I don't like the chevron flanky thing, or the taillights, or the front, or the hood, or the headlights, or the clunky-floaty roof, or the trunk bulge, or the proportions, or rocker panels, or the fender and door lines. The font on the license plate is okay.

Some boss from Gm aleady said that the corvette continues with a V8

I understand that the Corvette started out life with only 6 cylinders and that plenty power can be made by a V6TT but a Corvette without a V8 would be like... no words could describe the epic fail horror!
Rather a smaller forced induction GDI V8 please.

All I see are a lot of Ferarri influences in this concept. At least he didn't go "retro" with the design. Hopefully, GM won't either but a new vette is needed bad. The current design is showing it's age.

Why doesn't anyone here agree that design evolution is overrated? While most times needed; several cars have had very unpleasing successors because it was so difficult to live up to the previous design's simplicity. I don't blame GM for sticking with the same general shape over the years: Why change something that has reached its perfection through refinement and improvement over the decades

The German auto firms do design evolution best e.g. Porsche's 911, VW's Golf, Audi's TT and BMW's 3-series etc. These student renderings of forthcoming C7 'Vette shows GM's continued struggle to emerge from the ashes of the Asian Invasion coup de tait spearheaded by Toyota! Compare Ford's design evolution statement with the new Focus hatch and sedan, a mainstream car! You get the picture!
