Options package includes light-alloy wheels, fog lamps and tinted side and rear windows

VW has a special options package for the Polo, Golf and Golf Plus for which it has chosen fashion designer / icon and photographer Karl Lagerfeld to represent in a German ad campaign.

The STYLE special editions of the Polo and Golf variants come with a money-saving options package that includes light-alloy wheels, fog lamps, tinted side and rear windows and STYLE badging.

A STYLE-Plus package also adds a sunroof or panorama roof as well as new set of alloys.

The VW Polo STYLE is priced starting at €14,075 in Germany - an advantage of €1,885 over buying the options seperately. For the Golf STYLE, prices begin at €18,825 - a €2,335 saving. The STYLE-Plus package can save the consumer up to €865 in the crucial financial-crunch time that is Christmas.

The STYLE packages are also available on the Golf Plus and Golf wagon variants and can be had with most engine and trim levels. VW is also offering financing specials on the packages.

STYLE offers are available to buyers in Germany as of December 23rd.

Putting those cars together is like playing a 'spot the difference' game. However, those 5 spoke wheels suit the Polo... I mean Golf.

Those of you who want to own a little hatchback styled by a 70-year old gay designer, raise your hands!

FAIL! As a marketing gimmick it has potential, but come on VW... tint, alloys and a sunroof? Talk about a half-arse attempt. Bespoke alloys, 'Style' specific upholstery and paint colours would be much better. I'm very disappointed Mr Lagerfeld endorsed this nonsense.

Lagerfeld must have been given a pretty big cheque for this 'appearance'.

Lagerfeld's very first car was a VW, albeit a convertible, which he cherished a reasonable deal - it's nostalgia. You're disappointed?... I'm guessing that you do not know much about him beside his status.

I must be missing something here... What has the fact the designer is apparently gay and in his 70s got to do with the car? I don't get why you'd choose to buy/not buy a car based on that info. Weird.

The special edition is as boring as the normal edition. Amazing how this look of vw's become's so unfashionable ,so quickly. The Scirocco is the only product that looks awesome and doesnt get dull. That is besides Bugatti, porsche etc
