Hyundai Grandeur/Azera shown in new promo [video]

Another reason to forget the Toyota Avalon

Hyundai hasn't been to keen about sharing details on the new Azera / Grandeur, but a promotional video has unmasked the secretive model.

As previewed by the teaser photos, the next-generation Azera adopts a "fluidic sculpture" design that mixes elements of the Sonata and Genesis. The styling is tastefully elegant and there are a number of high-end touches such as LED daytime running lights and a panoramic sunroof.

Inside, the cabin echoes the Sonata with a massive touchscreen display and metallic accents. However, the luxury-oriented Azera also boasts a "supervison" instrument cluster, wood trim, and a prominent center console.

Powertrain details remain elusive, but the leading candidate is likely the Kia Cadenza's 3.5-liter V6 with 290 hp (216 kW / 294 PS) and 338 Nm (249 lb-ft) of torque.

The Azera is expected to be launched sometime next year, so stay tuned for continuing coverage.

The Koreans are no longer 'coming'; they have 'arrived'! Strong Merc design cues still doesn't hide genuine design innovation from Hyundai with this car. Hyundai having Delusions of Grandeur? You must be kidding! This is corporate confidence from the roof-tops!

If a person asks me what is the latest trendsetting automotive marque to grace our mother earth, it won't be Audi, BMW, MB, Porsche and other expected prestigious car brands. It would be a simply down-to-earth yet a modern trendsetter. What that brand is? It is Hyundai!

Nice...but I would prefer a slightly smaller but more sleek headlights, like the ones on the new Kia Optima. This would be better if it is a RWD. Come to think of it, does Hyundai have any RWD Passenger or Sports Car?
