Nürburgring in trouble - Sabine Schmitz sounds alarm for help

Queen of the Ring issues call to help save the Nurburgring circuit

Who knew?

Sabine Schmitz has issued a call for help to rescue the Nürburgring in Germany.

Yes, the infamous circuit with the legendary Nordschleife track known as the Green Hell which features in just about every other story we publish here is in danger of perishing. The place is in financial distress and in need of a bailout or rescue package.

How can this be? It's the Nürburgring! How can the place not be making money?

Oh, they handed mangement over to private investors who put in a roller coaster and wondered why nobody wanted to ride it? So much for private is better than public. Apparently, the mis-management borders on the criminal - it's certainly extremely corrupt with officials reporting wildly inflated attendance numbers.

The Queen of the Ring, driver of the Ring Taxi, also expresses her season's greetings to everyone in the video. The girl's charm is in how natural she is.

Watch Sabine's plea and then go to www.facebookcom/SaveTheRing to see how you can help.

Roller-coasters?! It's a global racing shrine ffs! The German Vicki-Butler Henderson, Sabine Schmidt, has charm, wit and skill to spare; I reckon she can drum up enough support for the 'Ring campaign. Some of the most epic test drives on the planet has taken place on this gold-dust of a circuit. I can't imagine what the Top Gear and Fifth Gear fraternity will make of this crisis!! Jeremy Clarkson certainly can't forget this baby as he was thrashed (on this same legendary circuit) mercilessly by her in a stripped-out Transit ffs!! What was he driving? An S-Type Jag diesel. Nuff said.

If it was being run properly and needed investors, people would be queuing round the block with their hard earned cash. Sabines husband is a multi millionaire and I bet he isn't going to put a single Euro into it. Get rid of the current management as has already been said above. Personally I wouldn't mind BMW, VAG or even MB owning part of it. Also, how about if it was developed similar to how the Yas Marina circuit is in UAE; hotels, driving schools and events (promoted properly) etc etc.

Let it go bankrupt, it's the best way. Then someone can come in and pick it up cheaply, and run it how it should be run...

Is right. If everyone bails them out then youre just rewarding them for their own corruption and greed in over investment in areas that nobody is interested in. The ring itself wont disappear as its potentially very profitable. The current management setup might though and that wouldnt appear to be a bad thing.

Maybe all the automakers with their 'Ring special edition models should cough up some support. I'm looking at you Aston Martin, Nissan, Chrysler, etc...

I would hope the big 3 German manufacturers would give big donations because it is invailable to them. The ring is legendary and the most fun you can have in life not involving a hot girl.

you cant be more right...noone needs rollercoast and other shiity attractions when you have nordschleife. Nothing can compare with the Ring. Just make whatever you can to keep it opened. I am looking forward to go there since summer. Closing it would be the disaster of the century.

It's obvious that maintenace cost are huge, but with public use, races and manufacturers tests should earn for itself. Maybe it should go private and be more exclusive to survive, something like Ascari Resort???
