No new Audi RS4 to be developed - RS6 instead

It?s bad enough that they wasted a phenomenal 2.5L Turbo engine on a lame front wheel biased AWD TT now they are not going to build the car that put Audi on the map? Times like these lead me to believe that Audi are absolutely clueless.

they have the S4 engine to work too.. v6 biturbo like the first rs4.. but why not!!??? shame on you audi!

How difficult would it be to make the RS5 into RS4?? While they're at it they can fix some of the dynamic complaints the press has been lobbing at the RS5. (last in both Evo and Car and Driver comparisons).

Its a mistake in my opinion. The RS4 is held in such high esteem and rightly so - this just seems to be wasting the reputation the car has built up. I can't seem Audi being without it for long though, as its handing sales to BMW.

Just how easy is it to get you lemmings to follow a story? The RS4 is already in development. Audi is just rebuilding the demand by leaking a shallow story. Just go get an M#, like you know you want to...lemmings...laughable...

Disaster news... The S4 B8 is such an amazing car, and a 4.0T would be perfect on the RS4 B8.

V8 RS4 was and still is the godfather of the RS models and if you look at how good the S4, this can only be a joke and Audi got 1 on all those who think its true.

Shame :( I love the last RS4 in all configurations and would like to see the new one. Cmon Audi!!!!!

It's better not to produce super-luxury, but non-sports S8 or Q7 V12 than real sportcar. Is Audi really wants to hand over market segment to BMW, Mercedes-Benz or Lexus?

I don't care what they call it, I want the 2.5 5-cylinder in the TT-RS in some form of the Audi A4. As for no RS4, dumb move since 1) the RS5 has been panned, 2) realistically speaking, I don't see a lot of people buying a RS5 OVER a M3 coupe, 3) I do see people buying a RS4 over a AMG C63 and (possibly) a M3 sedan.

I really liked the last RS4, probably because is different than the A5 (exterior), but than again it's like whatever...we don't need one more A5 copy...

But it is a part of brand's history. At first fabolous RS2 developed with Porsche was as amazing as shocking. They started to make fastest station wagon in the world and now RS6 only announced? Pity cause I am a big fan of RS palette.

If it were a choice between developing & producing one over the other they should have opted to build the RS4. And it wouldn't surpise me at all if they did build it as I see the demand for the the RS4 being higher than the RS5.

The RS4 engine, complete with a 4.2litre V8 churning out 420 bhp and which managed to make BMW'S M3 V8 sound almost dull (beating it on the track in the process), won 'ENGINE OF THE YEAR' about 3 years ago. It found itself under the bonnet of the rough and ready R8 AND the A5 coupe. One of the all-time gR8 engines! R.I.P. RS4. Does that now mean the A5 will need to spawn a saloon and an Avant? If not, the RS5 will never be regarded as a bonafide replacement for the irreplaceable RS4.
