2012 Mercedes SLK unveiled in French commercial

High style meets high tech

The 2012 Mercedes SLK has been unveiled a little early thanks to this, possibly leaked, promotional video.

While our French is a little rusty, the creepy clip shows the car in its full SLS AMG-inspired glory. Notable design highlights include front quarter vents, adaptive headlights (with LED daytime running lights), an integrated trunk-lid spoiler and LED taillights.  The optional AMG package adds a revised front fascia (with LED fog lights), AMG wheels, and cross-drilled brakes.

Inside, the cabin echoes the SLS with a prominent center console and round air vents. Other highlights include a dash-mounted clock (possibly power developable - as odd as that sounds), sun-reflecting leather seats, and an innovative draft guard system which is integrated into the roll bars. On the options list, we can expect Airscarf, a Harman Kardon audio system, COMAND Online (with internet access) and an electrochromic glass roof dubbed Magic Sky Control.

Under the hood, there's "new powerful" engines that deliver "high driving pleasure combined leading efficiency." Details are limited, but all the engines will feature a standard start/stop system and an available 7-Gtronic PLUS transmission.

Considering the sheer volume of leaks and teasers, look for a possible introduction at January's North American International Auto Show.

Thanks for tip the Martynas!

[Update: The video has been pulled, but we managed to take a couple screen shots before it happened.  They can been seen in the photo gallery below.]

i'm french (so i understand what they say in) and i have got an SLK . The secure fonctions of the car is interesting , but the rest of this commercial is STUPID ( the talks ). The idea of a scenario : why not . But the look of the car looks too much of the new CLK . I am very disapointed . For this moment , the new Z4 looks quite better and seems to have catch up her delay and Mercedes to have lost the agressivity of her actual SLK . Very disapointed . The other good point (after the security) for the design is the higher of the doors (like an SUV) and it's good because "slim"roadster to low aren't on the move . The look of the glasses very "brutal" with the LED looks good . But the actual SLK was quite better .

It's better than the current one... But is it a full scale new car or an exhaustive face-lift like the current SL? P.S. the guy in the film needs to stop taking drugs...

Althought the faux lower grill is unappealing, I like it better than the current model, which I've always thought had too much "beak". Glad to see Pano added. So, will driving an SLK lead guys to cruispast women in favor of throwing roses out of the car?

What I want to know is After 12 years of virtually flawless ,problem free use my SLK, When are these new bodies going to be on sale in the US. Tried calling MB A and that was a joke and case in Futility as the readers here know more about the cars than they do. Does anyone out there no the answer to my question?

tres sexy! I like it very much. the best SLK so far. It's an all-inclusive-car. You can order every current stuff of Mercedes development for it. And the design will have success, I'm sure. The front is very SL-like and the rear incredible sexy.

Can't really make good judgment from the video but not exactly liking what I see. Looking forward to some concrete pictures. Some observations.. 1. At 4:44 is that some sort of chrono thing as found in Porsches or just a normal clock 2. Never liked the shape of the SLS, even in person. Wish they didn't take that route here, except with the interior, kudos on that. 3. How many rows of LEDs is this one going to have 4. Looks a bit awkward from some angles, but I like the rear end 5. Seems pretty innovative technology-wise for what it is

I actually like it, its not the best looking, but its not bad. Im really into the rear, they went the right way with that. However i would've done two things with the new SLK, first made it longer then the current model and second add two seats in the back like the Porsche carrera, if those things were added it would be perfect!
