2012 Mercedes SLK unveiled in French commercial

High style meets high tech

The 2012 Mercedes SLK has been unveiled a little early thanks to this, possibly leaked, promotional video.

While our French is a little rusty, the creepy clip shows the car in its full SLS AMG-inspired glory. Notable design highlights include front quarter vents, adaptive headlights (with LED daytime running lights), an integrated trunk-lid spoiler and LED taillights.  The optional AMG package adds a revised front fascia (with LED fog lights), AMG wheels, and cross-drilled brakes.

Inside, the cabin echoes the SLS with a prominent center console and round air vents. Other highlights include a dash-mounted clock (possibly power developable - as odd as that sounds), sun-reflecting leather seats, and an innovative draft guard system which is integrated into the roll bars. On the options list, we can expect Airscarf, a Harman Kardon audio system, COMAND Online (with internet access) and an electrochromic glass roof dubbed Magic Sky Control.

Under the hood, there's "new powerful" engines that deliver "high driving pleasure combined leading efficiency." Details are limited, but all the engines will feature a standard start/stop system and an available 7-Gtronic PLUS transmission.

Considering the sheer volume of leaks and teasers, look for a possible introduction at January's North American International Auto Show.

Thanks for tip the Martynas!

[Update: The video has been pulled, but we managed to take a couple screen shots before it happened.  They can been seen in the photo gallery below.]

I would say it's more the new CLS style than the SLS. I'm not a fan of SLK, the only version I like is the 55 AMG.

Well, it definitely looks neutral enough to appeal to both genders now. The previous one looked way too feminine when compared to its rivals, the z4 and the boxter/cayman. Plus it looks less bloated.

Thanks for the pics at least, looks like a mini SLS; this is a good thing! A lot more masculine than the old one, but as with all Mercs, can't wait to see what AMG do with the range topper...!

Yes, most ugliest SLK to this date. I think Merc. has a wrong approach to SLK, they always try to make it a mini-SL.. It just makes it look like a, cheap SL, like a kit car almost..

Are those Buick Verano's headlight? Ugh...the car already looks kinda dated, Mercedes needs new styling, and they need it badly, maybe they should start shopping for new designers.

C'mon! they Gave a cheaper version of the SLS which everybody wants. even though i don't like the headlights that much, they did an amazing job with styling the car especially the taillights

Actually it does look beautiful, they pics here are taken from the bottom and make the car look bad, but in the video it's a very good looking car

I actually like it, its not the best looking, but its not bad. Im really into the rear, they went the right way with that. However i would've done two things with the new SLK, first made it longer then the current model and second add two seats in the back like the Porsche carrera, if those things were added it would be perfect!

Can't really make good judgment from the video but not exactly liking what I see. Looking forward to some concrete pictures. Some observations.. 1. At 4:44 is that some sort of chrono thing as found in Porsches or just a normal clock 2. Never liked the shape of the SLS, even in person. Wish they didn't take that route here, except with the interior, kudos on that. 3. How many rows of LEDs is this one going to have 4. Looks a bit awkward from some angles, but I like the rear end 5. Seems pretty innovative technology-wise for what it is
