Latest shots get an up-close look at the next 911's new adjustable rear spoiler and new rear end design

Here are the latest spy shots of the next generation 2012 Porsche 911 code named 991.

This prototype has been spotted with little camouflage, something we've previously seen. But here we get a much better look at that new rear spoiler that the 911 is sporting.

We get to see the shape of the adjustable rear spoiler close up in this set of shots and how it relates to that new rear end design. The prototype comes with a green number tag between the taillights, still partly masking the rear design change. But the pics give us the best sense we've had so far as to the next 911's new rear end look.

This is Porsche and change is subtle.

We can expect the 2012 Porsche 911 to debut sometime next year.

This sucks. The same look since 2004. Well done Porsche, your a co. of the past. Does it look better than a Audi R8, Merc SLS or Ferrari F458?

there is a RUF GT8 powered by a V8; still, The V8 engine is quite heavy, even using an alluminium block - which translates a more dificult behaviour on the road, especially when dealing with lots of curves, slipery surfaces and so on. the V8 is also costier to produce, less environment friendly so I think chances are you'll see the same old flat six back in business.

It does not need any changes to its appearance. The 911 shape is perfect & timeless.I just hope that the internet gossip is true & it is powered by a V8.

it looks bigger, even if it really isn't. I like the slighlty upright and apparently smaller headlights(so far jerry05cod4 saw the same things...) and there is something different in the side line. anyway, it looks just fine.

I like the way they have given this car a bit of curves around the rear wheel arches like the 993 variant. I like Porsches and I suppose they are right not to change the look of the car too much, it has been working for 40 years. Why change? Having said that I can't wait to see the 928 successor...they could definitely make a lot of money in the 2 door GT market.
