AMG boss confirms plans for two new Black Series models

Good things are coming our way

During a press conference at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Ola Kallenius, the head of Mercedes-AMG, announced two new Black Series models will be launched in the "very near future."

While he declined to elaborate, our spies have previously caught a C63 AMG Black Series undergoing testing in Europe. We were under the impression it was a mule for the Black Series coupe, but Kallenius' statement seems to imply that there will be also be a sedan variant.

Regardless, the car is expected to use a 6.3-liter (6208cc) V8 that has been modified to produce upwards of 510 hp (380 kW / 517 PS). It will be connected to a seven-speed MCT transmission, which should ensure the BMW M3 won't be resting on its laurels.

Besides talking about the Black Series, Kallenius mentioned that there are no immediate plans for a diesel-powered AMG and the division will focus on weight reduction before incorporating hybrid technology into their products. Lastly, the CEO indicated we could see A- and B-Class AMGs, but those models are still three to four years off.

There is no CLK-Class at the current Mercedes Line up and probably won't be for a couple of years, so your "knowledge" should be updated

There is no longer a CLK, but he means the C-coupe, which the CLK technically was.

Is there any proof that the awaited c-coupe will be actually named "c-class coupe"? My guess is that it will be named CLK, just like Mercedes didn't change CL into S-Coupe.

The CLK was the replacement for the E Coupe in the mid 90's. The model has gone back to the E badge, to make room for a lesser expensive C Coupe.

AMG wasn't exclusive enough, so they brought out the Black series. Now now just like AMG, they are going to have one for each class? Whats up with the give away? Black Friday sale?

AMG once said that black series AMG's will be based on coupes and coupes only. And I think they said something about the E coupe BS. SLS black series on it's way too? Maybe C coupe and SLS black seris. SWEET. And yes CLK no longer excists but the new E class coupe is replacement for it, not the upcoming C coupe. And no, it won't be called CLK..

Modified 6.2L?! I thought they are all going for the biturbo 5.5L. Well, I guess the black series is now what AMG was. A and B class AMG?! Soon, there will be AMG`s all over the road. I guess that will not happen in the US, since there is no A and B class here.

I think they're referring to the coupe and sedan version of the C63 AMG Black Series as one, and the SLS AMG Black Series as the other model to come.
