German tuner dial up the output on the Amarok's 2.0 liter BiTDI for an extra chunk of torque

German tuner Oettinger has a tuning kit for the VW Amarok pick up truck.

The tuning consists of a power boosting for the 2.0 liter BiTDi engine on the Amarok - squeezing even more torque from the already twist-heavy power plant. Oettinger dials up output on the diesel engine to 140 kW (190 bhp) and 317 lb ft (430 Nm) - up from the series' 120 kW (163 bhp) 295 lb ft (400 Nm).

The specifics are even better, as the tuning actually provides an additional 50 Nm (37 lb/ft) in the critical band between 2800-4000 rpm.

The engine tuning, which entails a tweaking of the ECU, takes the Amarok's 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time to around 10.5 seconds. The Oettinger Amarok has a top speed of 187 km/h (116 mph).

Cost for the engine tuning comes in at €1,090.00, including installation and warranty.

With skilful modification of the motor management, the OETTINGER engineers have been able to release a total of 140 KW (190 hp DIN) from the new 2.0 Litre two stage control BiTDi engine. The torque already climbs by 30 Nm (22 lb/ft) at 1500 rpm, compared to the standard vehicle, rising to a satisfying additional 50 Nm (37 lb/ft) at between 2800-4000 rpm. The performance of the OETTINGER Amarock is particularly convincing off road, where such reserves are often required - The off-road scene will be enamoured.

The additional torque of up to 50 Nm (37 lb/ft) allows not only swift progress but also the alternative of relaxed gliding at low revs on main roads and in town. The performance of the OETTINGER Amarok is also remarkable: following the power treatment, the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) is completed in approx. 10,5 seconds and the top speed lies at around 187 km/h (116 mph).
