The Bowler EXR Nemesis at Brands Hatch

The Bowler EXR Nemesis at Brands Hatch
Bowler EXR Nemesis 11.11.2010

Extreme off-road racer will come in two power configurations - a 5.0 liter supercharged V8 with 600 bhp (447 kW) and a 3.0 liter TDV6 with 291 bhp (217 kW)

The Bowler Nemesis EXR prototype is a road-going version of the Nemesis desert rally raid vehicle (pictured), and will be put through its paces at the Race Car Live! Event at Brands Hatch in the UK next weekend (Saturday 20 and Sunday the 21 of November).

Based on a heavily modified Range Rover Sport, the EXR comes in two disparate power configurations - the first is a 5.0 liter supercharged V8 with 600 bhp (447 kW), the second a 3.0 liter TDV6 with 291 bhp (217 kW). Both come with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The lightweight makings of the EXR include a body and chassis spaceframe made of composite material. Underpinning the racing SUV is a double-wishbone independent suspension and front and rear roll bars.

The Nemesis was designed as a desert racer and previous iterations, using 4.0, 4.2 and 4.4 liter V8s, have competed in the World Off Road Rally and the Dakar Rally circuits.  However, the EXR represents the company's first street-legal car intended to embarrass the BMW X6 M, Porsche Cayenne Turbo and Mercedes ML 63 AMG on and off the road.

BOWLER EXR NEMESIS IN ACTION AT RACE CAR LIVE!

The rugged Bowler EXR Nemesis will roar into action at this year's Race Car Live!, held on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st November at Brand Hatch.

Already well known for its rally raid vehicle, Bowler Off-Road will showcase its new extreme sports car, heavily defined by its motorsport heritage but with the restrictions lifted to create an adrenalin fuelled ride both on and off road.

EXR is available with a massive five litre supercharged V8 engine with a peak power of 600BHP or the more ‘subdued' three litre TDV6, with 291BHP. With a composite body and spaceframe chassis, the EXR has a six-speed automatic transmission (paddle shift), double wishbone independent suspension, and both front and rear roll bars.

The prototype EXR will put the Brands Hatch Indy circuit through its paces, with those interested in finding out more about the vehicle invited to experience the EXR as a passenger. Meanwhile the Nemesis will also be in action throughout the weekend.

The Nemesis is a full blown desert racer designed to cope with the harshest circuits that the World Off Road Rally has on offer and has been used to successfully compete in the Dakar Rally. With 4.4, 4.2 and 4 litre V8 engined versions, the Nemesis was derived from the experience gained in the development if Bowler's Wildcat off road race car, now owned by Qt Services.

Since taking on the production of the car in 2007, the Qt team have developed a complete range of Wildcats that are all road legal and will also be in action at the show.

Race Car Live is open 9am until 5pm each day. Advance tickets cost £12 for adults and £8 for children or £15 for adults and £12 for children on the day. Visit www.racecarlive.com

Really want one of these. Not gonna lie. An SUV that's actually an SUV. Ant it will indeed embarass the BMW, Porsche, Benz...It will embarass pretty much everything when you consider that this will be that fastest car on any terrain (supercars only work on the road, unfortunately).

Yeah I agree with you. It's quite amazing to see such a good combination of extreme speed and off-road capabilities. It would undoubtedly beat BMW, Porsche and Mercedes.

The Bowler they showed on top gear was completely different from the one pictured here. I would not be surprised if the price of one of these approached $200,000, which is actually quite reasonable if you think about what you're getting. Range Rover Sport, strip it out and rebuild it while keeping the interior of the original, means loads of lightweight parts underneath, which is way more expensive than deleting chairs, sat-nav, and all of that stuff. Then have new suspension, brakes...so that it can actually work as a performance vehicle. More money. Then the engine, derived from the 5.0 V8 Supercharged, but again upgraded to an output of 600bhp. More money. Then, being a Bowler, it has to be able to use all of its power both on and off the road. Witchcraft happens. More money. What you end up with is basically a supercar like you see today, only a lot higher up and does 0-60 in 4 seconds anywhere it goes. Take away about 30 grand for the diesel, assuming nothing else changes. Also, this is probably low volume which means high price. The one on Top Gear was cheaper because it lacked much of what this offers, including an increase in output by 300bhp.

This thing is pure awesome! I would ditch the crappy black-on-chrome wheels though, they are too tacky for a competent off-roader. Also, fire the render artist, he's lame!
