Production ready Honda New Small Vehicle Concept to debut in Thailand
New Small Vehicle Concept to go to market in 2011 in Thailand and India
Honda will introduce a production-ready version of its New Small Vehicle Concept at the 2010 Thailand International Motor Expo on November 30th (press day for the event).
This new compact hatch will be launched in the Thai and Indian markets in 2011 and will sell for around 500,000 (Indian) rupees (a little over €8,000/$10,000).
Honda has not announced what will be under the hood of the New Small Vehicle Concept, nor what it's name will be once it goes to production, which should be very soon. Speculation is that there will be a series of small power plants with a 1.2 liter petrol/gasoline engine being the largest on offer.
No news yet on whether it will be available in other markets. We await more details.
The 27th Thailand International Motor Expo takes place (for the public) from December 1st to the 12th.
Honda to Exhibit World Premiere of New Small Vehicle Prototype at the 27th Thailand International Motor Expo 2010
November 9, 2010 -- Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today announced plans to exhibit the world premiere of a prototype representing the direction of the new small-sized vehicle which is scheduled to be introduced to Thailand and India in 2011, at the 27th Thailand International Motor Expo 2010 starting November 30, 2010 (press day: November 30, public days: December 1-12.)
Building upon the Honda New Small Concept, which was showcased in India (January) and Thailand (March) in 2010, this prototype represents vehicle packaging that is closer to the mass-production model.
Based on this prototype, Honda will introduce two different versions of the small-sized vehicle, which will share the same basic design. In Thailand, Honda will introduce a model that complies with the country's high fuel efficiency standards. In India, Honda will introduce a model developed exclusively for the country's growing small car market.
In addition to the prototype, Honda also will exhibit a variety of automobiles such as Accord, City, Civic, Jazz (known as Fit in Japan), CR-V and Freed as well as motorcycles including CBR250R, a new global sports model, and PCX, a global scooter model, both of which are being exported from Thailand to global markets.
