The new RS3 will come with 350 PS (257 kW / 345 bhp), 10 PS more than the 2.5 TFSI's configuration in the TT RS model

The Audi RS3 is coming and reports are that it will get a slightly boosted version of the same 2.5 liter inline 5-cylinder TFSI power plant that was first introduced in the TT RS model.

According to Auto Express, the upcoming RS3 will come with 350 PS (257 kW / 345 bhp), 10 PS more than that engine's configuration in the TT RS model.

The new RS3 will also come fitted with Audi's 7-speed S tronic double-clutch gearbox.

The British magazine has published photos of some of the RS3's interior components, non-installed, which include a speedometer that reaches 310 km/h (192 mph) and a steering wheel with aluminum paddle shifters. But the RS3 will likely come with an electronically set speed limiter that will put the car on hold at the 250 km/h (155 mph) mark.

The new RS3 will be limited to just 2,700 units.

I was always a fan of the A3, even though i'll probably never own one(not by choice) this is just the model and engine it always needed. I don't know if it can hit 192 without the limiter but it'll hit a solid 165 im sure with enough road...not bad.

what's up with the 2700 limited number for the RS3 as well for the 1er M coupe?...

The news of RS3 coming is great, but the only thing that bothers me is that Audi is producing this model at the very end of the current A3's life cycle. If I am well informed, they will introduce the new generation A3 sometime in 2011/2012... So, they'll be selling new gen A3 and RS3 with old looks at the same time.

Agree with you. The same story at BMW with their 1er M coupe. The new 1 series will go out soon. In my opinion both manufacturers should have waited for the new models and then introduce their sport models. Dudes that will get those RS3 and 1er M will realise after one year they have the old model.

I think that's one of the main reasons why the production is limited

At least BMW could had done it differently. Audi is limited by it's policy not to build more than one RS model at a time... though I'm not sure about than any more, since now they are producing both RS5 and TT RS...

It does kind of suck that is coming so late. Excluding vr6, that has been discontinued last year, there isn't a good motorization in this model. Granted 2.0 tfsi and tdi are great engines, but with a quattro and a optional panoramic roof, this is a heavy car. We in the states don't have a luxury of opting for an s3 so am pretty sure that rs3 will b just a dream.

audi has a tendency to put out their RS models very late, and the S being late. BMW does that too with the M (at least one year). MB is working hard to get their AMG out same year (E63).

Nice car and pretty much similar hp as the focus RS except RS3 has quattro system which is awesome unlike the Focus RS which is front wheel driven. Both great cars but personally would prefer the Audi RS3 anyday...

Does RS3 come only in Sportback variant? Is there a regular 3-door RS3?

I think anyone driving a 135i will be fooled by what they think is an S3 as all Audi's tend to look the same - Germans get too caught up in understatement and miss the point. It won't be much of a competition though, 135i will get smoked by the sleeper.

It's almost too late to finally get an RS3 on the road when the A4, A6 & A8 have enjoyed the RS treatment over the years! Better late than never. It better be great otherwise...

bonkers car - huge fan of TT-RS - so much power from pocket-sized engine - love the concept and execution - now need to make A3 platform look like something other than a loaf of bread
