A Volkswagen official has apparently confirmed reports that the German auto giant is not going to enter formula one.
The news follows Tuesday's report in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper that said VW chairman Ferdinand Piech had decided against approving a F1 foray with Audi or Porsche branding.
The DPA news agency cites an official at Volkswagen's Wolfsburg headquarters as responding: "There are no concrete plans (for F1)."

Still it's a shame. I like to see manufacturers competing in F1, and especially since the loss of BMW, Toyota and Honda, it would be nice to get one back in there, and especially one with pedigree.

I didn't think they would enter into F1 one second, that would probably be left to Audi, if they where going to do it.

Can't blame them, the cars are exquisite but the sport has obvious competitive problems and if you can't spend alot of money you're screwed and even if you can and you spend as much money as Toyota did which is as much as Ferrari does....you still aren't guaranteed jack.
Call me crazy but F1 needs an overhaul.

That's what they all say until they sneak back in! Audi can do a better job in F1 as their manufacturing product strategy reflects their sporting philosophies. Plus great rally and Le Mans pedigree; it's a winning formula!
