Inside Porsche Classic - Revive the Passion [video]

This past summer, Porsche Classic began restoring a 1973 US version 911 T Coupé on behalf of the Porsche Club of America (PCA) under the motto "Revive the Passion". The finished gem will be raffled off among PCA members and is to be publicly presented to the winner at the Porsche Parade in the USA in August 2011.

Porsche Classic is a specialized division within Porsche with a unique wealth of experience in the areas of repair, maintenance, care and restoration. Many of the mechanics and master craftsman within Porsche Classic are the original workers who built old Porsches on the assembly line from previous generations. Owners from around the world can send their cars to Porsche Classic to be repaired by the same hands that once built them.

The video describes how Porsche Classic will be restoring the 1973 911 T Coupe from the ground up all within 12 months.

If i could, i'ld love to own a current Gen 911 with classic skin, like the concept an Independent firm made about a year ago. Still nothing like the original though.

it's about time Porsche did the right thing . coming to the rescue of the classic air/oil cooled 991s of old . they must have gotten wind of BMWs pioneering efforts in this field towards their own classic cars which was reported by WCF some time back . and may i suggest Porsche to re-manufacture ENTIRELY new engine blocks ,suspension/powertrain assemblies along with freshly stamped body shells in order to genuinely resurrect a timeless legend...the real 911s .

Very nice... I can't imagine anyone would want to do the same for a Cayenne 30 years down the road... Long live the 911...

I recorded 'Megafactories: Porsche' yesterday on Nat Geo and I felt great passion for the original 911 (and 993 versions) from the 60s than I did for the 996-997 updates. So, it's great to see that Porsche have finally realised the air-cooled soul of the Carrera is sold off to the water-cooled version. The handling delicacy and raw bark of that flat six engine is greatly missed! However, kudos to Porsche for redefining 'design evolution' by keeping that trademark squatting frog side profile virtually unchanged in almost 40 years! Classic car with classic soul.
