ZiL Concept proposes new Russian head of state limousine

In association with Russian truck, heavy equipment and armored vehicle manufacturer Zavod imeni Likhachova (bettern known as ZiL), the Russian government announced the acceptance of design proposals for a new presidential / head of state limousine. With a decision to be made before the end of the year, slava'saakyan design studio has presented the ZiL Concept.

Drafted by slava'saakyan studio founder and former ZiL designer, Slava Saakyan designed the ZiL Concept under the premise of not trying to be overly beautiful or pleasing to everyone. The ZiL Concept had to look very solid and embody the power and greatness of Russia. Saakyan dispensed with ornate detailing and focused on clear and understandable proportions in the most rational sense. Security, comfort and modernity also played vital roles in the design.

Saakyan believes following these priciples will give longevity to the design. The lack of a rear window, sharp edges and sharp corners illustrate the main principle - the car must be clearly understandable as is, without smoothing and over-styling.

Interesting angles, I like it's 'big, bad, boss' style. The trunk... well it looks like it's made to carry... bodies.

Looks like a suped up 1980's car of the future. I thought it was a remake of the 70's Cadillac which would have been great as a new American limo concept.

...Da, it can carry the Soyuz space capsule in the trunk. Da, it never run out of fuel, because is nuclear. Da, it can survive the wrath of God. Da, it has a vodka dispenser for all the passengers. Da, it looks powerful and menacing, but please Mr. Putin don't kill me because I forget the rear view window!!!

It's just a rendering :) Russian car manufacturing in giant crysis. For example, last ZIL limousine was made in 2002, but it was just a facelift of ancient model. It wouldn't be produced, because Russian automakers are dead, without AutoVAZ.

Sorry, Pontiac, ZIL made last limousine in 2005 for president of Kazakhstan. Today ZIL is not in crisis - company gets credit from Government of Moscow, which makes 30 mln dollars for development programm. In 2012 year they will produce new model of truck, which develope in collaboration with Porsche Engineering. As opposed to current models, new truck will just civil, not a military.

You can tell a lot about a man from the car he drives. In this case you can tell a lot about the country from the car it chose to represent its officials. Is this the image you would want? I think the true sociopaths built this car, not the Skoda vRS.

Lagonda rear end indeed! However, this is Russian plutocrat motoring at its most classical bad-ass! Great modern remix of original version! Putin must be proud of zis.

Although it looks right away that it's rendered Rolls with popular elements from other cars (e.g. taillights taken from Audi Quattro concept), it looks very interesting (maybe but the front). I wonder if they find money to launch this concept...
