Can't really mess with a good thing too much, it was good enough for Volkswagen to skip developing their own van and using the Caravan as their choice(with changes of course).

VW has their own van, its just less car-like, tall like a traditional van (maybe too van-like for the US minivan market). http://www.worldcarfans.com/109081921134/new-2010-volkswagen-t5-van-facelift-revealed

Fair enough, that is the classic VW van, always a solid choice, but yea i was referring to the North American market. For whatever reason they opted to just buy and slightly redesign the Caravan into their "Routan" which looks great and truthfully very little like the Caravan as well as having better amenities im sure.
As for the T5...go figure, our market can be fickle, that Van is a solid one, a good work horse too im sure.

"a minivan with the driving dynamics of a performance sedan"
Um... sure. The pre-face-lifted one had nowhere near sporty driving dynamics. I drove a rented one on a several hundred mile family trip, and sporty is not the word I would use to describe it. But I suppose maybe they've tightened up the suspension and put bigger brakes on it. Maybe.
