Rare Pagani Zonda R test drive on video
Fifth Gear host takes Pagani Zonda R to its limits
Yes, this video is from that other British motoring program. The one that's been on longer than Top Gear and features hokier, although, less toxic hosts.
Fifth Gear's Tiff Needell takes the Pagani Zonda R super track car for a test drive in this video. It is pure speed.
Say what you will about Needell's excessive enthusiasm as a host but on the track it confirms that this man was once a professional race driver. He takes the Zonda R to its limits while providing us with a sound commentary.
The Zonda R recently posted a record-setting lap time of 6 minutes 47.5 seconds for the 20.8 km Nordschleife track at the Nurburgring.
It is in a class of its own - a true hypercar.

Been on longer than Top Gear? COMPLETELY wrong! Fifth Gear was started by the team who left Top Gear and moved to TV channel Five, hence the name. That was in 2002. Top Gear has been on TV screens in the UK since 1977.

Bristol, it's a little confusing but Fifth Gear is actually the next iteration of the old Top Gear program which did, indeed, begin in 1977. It was revived in 2002 as Fifth Gear after the original Top Gear was canceled in 2001.
The current Top Gear with host Jeremy Clarkson began shortly afterwards. Which is why I wrote that Fifth Gear is the older show.

It's amazing... too bad I can't stand Tiff, he reminds me of a high school english teacher. All soft and trying way too hard to "act" the part.

Agreed, Jeremy Clarkson is awesome though. Why I only watch one version of Top Gear.

yeah, but Tiff actually knows what he's talking about, as opposed to a comedian like Clarkson who makes the same jokes since the 90s and changes his mind every week.

That is true to. Still its what makes Top Gear what it is, comedy. Using Top Gear show as a basis for any argument would be stupid though, haha.

If i want a comedic take on the automotive industry i'll watch Top Gear, they do have great specials and entertaining episodes. Fifth gear is more serious, down to the point made by real drivers for real drivers. All depends on what you like. In a race Tiff would hands down beat Jeremy, and thats what i care about. Depends what i'm in the mood for, honestly i dont watch Top Gear for any of the cars i like, i watch it for everything else, for cars i like it's Fifth all the way.

And I don't care what anyone says, Jeremy Clarkson is Better than Tiff.

I think Tiff is one of the best journalist drivers in the world, but watching this video I must say that Pagani Zonda R rather takes Fifth Gear host to its limits. I believe Tiff could squezze some more from the car but probably the track wasn't enough good for this and probably he has to watch out on the precious car which probably has been sold recently on the same auction as James Bond 007 Aston Martin DB5. Anyway nice video

Clarkson focuses more on the comedy than the car he's testing. Tiff does what he's suppose to do. Give feedback on what he's driving which i think he's excellent at doing.

GREATEST CARs EVER MADE...I think it's even greater than the Mclaren F1

I trust Tiff's review more than Clarkson's. Both are entertainig in their own way. Clarkson has the best analogies ever. He definitely tries to act cool though.
Tiff's expressions are worth a thousand words sometimes. See his reviews on McLaren F1 and Porsche GT1 from a few years back. His ear to ear grin shows he is grateful and happy to be a car guy.

As an avid TG fan, I have noticed an enduring appeal of FG AND similarities to TG. Tiff is FG's Stig and the big bloke with curly hair is Jezza, Plato is Hamster and Vicki is well, just sexy and a dab-hand behind the steering-wheel! Tiff would pulverise Jezza in a race-off no question and this Zonda, a Bugatti Veyron Supersport rival, is latest in the line of the 'Ring Masters. Simply epic achievement with second test run!! So, for comedy genius go for TG. For F1 and rally purists FG any day of the week.
