Large and in charge

Spy photographers in Germany have managed to capture several new images of the 2012 Opel / Vauxhall Zafira.

Decked out in heavy camouflage, the redesigned MPV has grown in size to measure a rumored 4690mm long, 1820mm wide, and 1690mm tall. While this will likely result in a weight penalty, passengers in the second- and third row will undoubtedly appreciate the extra room.

Speaking of the interior, the cabin resembles the Astra but there's a recessed information display and revised switchgear.

Engine options remain a bit of a mystery, but previous reports have indicated that the petrols will have outputs ranging from 120 hp (89 kW / 122 PS) to 180 hp (134 kW / 183 PS) while the diesels will produce 110 hp (82 kW / 112 PS) to 160 hp (119 kW / 162 PS). They will be mated to the usual automatic and manual transmissions, but a dual-clutch gearbox will eventually be offered.

The 2012 Zafira will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Will the Zafira have suicide doors like the Meriva? We dont have the Meriva here but i think the suicide doors would be a good idea on a people mover in theory...
