Toyota/Subaru FT-86 Coupe mule spied in Germany
FT-86 will be sold under the Scion brand in the United States market
There's lots of news and rumors to be had about Toyota and Subaru's upcoming FT-86 Coupe but not much in terms of what it will actually look like.
These latest spy shots are of a mule for the FT-86 recently caught testing in damp weather Germany. We spotted a similar prototype at the Nürburgring last year and another one doing some hot-weather testing in Death Valley over the summer.
The FT-86 will be sold globally, except in the United States, badged as a Toyota and likely with a 2.0 liter boxer engine. The Subaru version will be fitted with a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine producing 260 hp (194 kW / 264 PS). It will not be an all-wheel drive, though, due to cost-saving measures.
In the United States market the FT-86 will be sold under the Scion and brand and come with a 2.5 liter Boxer engine and a sale price of around $25,000.
The FT-86 is expected to debut sometime in 2012.
