Fiat-based Dodge sedan scheduled for 2011
Alfa Romeo Giulietta

Will ride on the Compact Wide platform

During a conference call, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne confirmed the first Fiat-based Dodge will debut in late 2011.

Details are limited, but the model will be a sedan which will ride on Compact Wide architecture that also underpins the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. It will be built in the United States and replace the Dodge Caliber.

While nothing is official, power will likely be provided by a 1.4-liter FIRE MultiAir engine with 101 hp (75 kW /102 PS) to 173 hp (129 kW / 175 PS). More importantly, the sedan will offer a high-efficiency version which will get up to 40 mpg.

More information will be released next year.

Basically the immanent and sometimes earned distrust to the both of brands (AR an Chrysler) can make some difficulties for them in European market. Fiat should brush Alfa Romeo up, more up than they were able to do with Giulietta. Cheap plastics of interior with ocasionally falling details and drivablity not just a pair to Golf puts AR in deeper finacial trouble than they aready are I'm afraid.

I have a bad feeling about this. Fiat was never "financially stable" brand and neither was Chrysler. Daimler pulled out from cooperation with americans for a reason. I fear it might just put the Italians down this time...
