The GT2 RS was limited to a run of only 500 units

Porsche has announced that the 911 GT2 RS is sold out - less than two months after the model was introduced at the Moscow Auto Salon on August 25.

The Stuttgart-based automaker also proudly posted the news on its Twitter feed.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is a special edition supercar that comes with a twin-turbocharged (with variable turbine geometry - VTG) 3.6 liter six-cylinder boxer engine producing a total of 620 PS (462 kW). 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 3.5 seconds.

The GT2 RS was limited to a series of just 500 units but with a sale price of €237,578 in Germany and $245,000 (€193,000) in the U.S. market, it still sold out quite quickly.

Practically fifty years down the line, the 911 love story remains as strong as ever. And then some! Three years ago, I drove the Carrera S and boy! What a drive!

This just goes to show that no matter how many people say the 911 is obsolete, theoretically inferior (rear engine)and boring, they're all wrong. People's fascination with the 911 is unending and the car will continue to push the performance envelope. Long live the 911!

How many times did Porsche try to replace the old 911? many times right?? remember the 928? they built this one to replace the old 911 body but completely failed! no 911 means no Porsche, no Porsche no 911!

Just goes to show how good the Porsche engineers are that they can consistently create such competitive machines out of an inherently flawed setup.

The pricing seems to be off. First; $245,000 equates to a figure of ?175,514. Second; if that price is accurate, why are the Germans paying more for an automobile that is domestic in origin?

because the Americans are lucky SOBs, they get all the cars much cheaper than in Europe. ...they also don't have VAT.
