 Hyundai Equus pricing announced (US)
2011 Hyundai Equus 02.04.2010

Starts at $58,000

Hyundai has announced the 2011 Equus will be priced from $58,000 (€41,980) when it arrives at "select" dealerships in December.

While it costs $15,000 (€10,860) more than the Genesis 4.6, the Equus significantly undercuts key rivals like the Lexus LS 460L ($70,925), BMW 750Li ($86,400) and Mercedes S550 ($91,600). Despite this, the car comes nicely equipped with leather upholstery, an Alcantara headliner, a massaging driver seat, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, wood trim, a glass sunroof, power reclining / heated rear seats, and power rear sunshades.

For an additional $6,500 (€4,700), the Ultimate package adds individual rear seats, a rear passenger-side seat massage system, cooled rear seats, a rear-seat entertainment system (with an eight-inch monitor), a rear center console refrigerator, and a power trunk lid.

Furthermore, both models come standard with Smart Cruise Control, passive entry, GPS navigation, a 608-watt Lexicon 7.1 Discrete surround-sound system, XM Satellite Radio, iPod/USB/Bluetooth connectivity, and an Apple iPad which doubles as an owner's manual.

Power is provided by a 4.6-liter V8 with 385 hp (287 kW / 390 PS) and 333 lb-ft (451 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a six-speed ZF automatic transmission, which enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 6.4 seconds.

Hyundai Motor America has announced pricing for the all-new Equus luxury sedan. The lavishly contented Equus Signature will be priced at $58,000 and the top-of-the-line Equus Ultimate at $64,500. Hyundai Equus brings a fresh approach to product innovation and the ownership experience in this price segment.

With "At Your Service," Hyundai Equus owners enjoy no-charge maintenance, including complimentary oil and filter changes, brake pads and rotors, wiper blades, and battery. Valet pickup and drop-off is provided for all warranty, maintenance and service repairs, and a Genesis or Equus replacement vehicle is provided while the owner's car is at the dealership.

The Equus retail and ownership experience includes other innovative and time-saving premium services such as:

"We're confident that smart luxury buyers will discover that Equus competes well with similar flagship products from Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi and Lexus," said John Krafcik, Hyundai Motor America president and CEO. "But the traditional luxury brands simply can't compete with the unique retail and ownership experience we'll be providing for the Equus owner, including "Your Time, Your Place," the industry's first at-home vehicle demonstration program; the "At Your Service" program, which provides complimentary valet at-home pickup and no-charge maintenance for five years or 60,000 miles; and the industry's first iPad-based interactive owner's manual."

Equus arrives at select Hyundai dealerships in December. Hyundai expects the premium luxury market to total close to 45,000 units this year.

it's time for mercedes to create a new S class. Hyundai made one similar to the present one

Maybe the Kia version will look better as its sibling usually produces a bit much better car to look. While after getting better on exterior, now is the right time for Hyundai-Kia to develop much better look and feel interior because they tend to be a bit fussy and not original. After all it is a new creation of past Lexus LS and in a decade could be sold almost on par with those 4 Germans + 1 British (Jag could be soon followed by Lotus).

Originality counts for nothing in some places on this planet!

I've driven this car in Korea where it is a huge commercial success as were past generations of it. Overall it is a very good car for the price, but once you are sitting in it, it becomes apparent that the car is still a Hyundai, albeit a well-dressed one. The tiny details don't always look or feel right and it simply doesn't quite feel like sitting in a BMW 7 series or Audi A8. As for the drive, Hyundai has seem to taken a very Lexus-like approach; quick with the V8, but bland. On the streets, this car does have road presence and is actually very beautiful and it's design can really give the S Class a run for its money. I don't think Hyundai will have a hard time finding value oriented buyers for this car. Smart not putting a Hyundai badge on it.

Very much agree. The interior may not be as high-end as Ze Germans, but I doubt it's enough to negate a $12,000 saving over the cheapest rival.

It is a nice car but i do prefer LS460

Too expensive. Had it been about $50K, I think it probably would have sold well.

What difference does the extra $8000 make in this sector?

Considering what this is competing against, that's a shitload of car for your money. As long as you don't say "Hyundai" to the ignorant and/or prejudiced, you'd be alright with one of those.

This car will succeed at the expense of the LS. The Germans will just keep moving upmarket and from super-expensive to hyper-expensive.

I agree with a lot of posts here- this Hyundai will be a sales success and might even take a bite out of Lexus, BMW, Benz and Audi. It's $60,000. For that price, you get a mildly speced A6, a bare bones 5-series and I don't even think it puts you on the seat of an E-class. The closest competitor would be the Lexus but even then, you get all the bells and whistles with this one. Good job Hyundai.

For $60,000 you can get a LOADED Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan. Both premium packages and a few extras. I just couldn't bring myself to spend that money on a Hyundai. Even if the materials are nice inside, it's still a dressed up $25,000 car that looks just like a LS460 which is a feaux S-Class in the first place.

Too many things I do like about the car ? looking to the price tag on it , this could be a sweet deal ? we can see the Korean car maker coming fast, if you have a chance take a look at the new KIA ( K7 ) aka CADENZA & you will know what I'm talking about & it's a shame this car is not proudly warring the Hyundai badge. But, people who already can pay for a BMW, a Merc. or an Audi wont probably think of saving expenses (10-20-30 K$) ? only the crowd & the economic down turn will decide.

I live in Seoul and I hate this car because: 1. It's driven by a chaufer and they drive slow as sh!t 2. If not driven by a chaufer it's usually driven by either: a. gangsters-they drive like sh!t b. old folks - they drive like sh!t c. self made businessmen that want to drive the biggest car they can afford-and they drive like sh!t because the cars too damn big But that aside, it's a nice car for the money...if you really don't mind a cushy ride and have no need to handling. It's got prescence on the road as well. A lot better in person than in the photos. Frankly, speaking I'd get this over a Lexus GS or maybe even the LS...but then again here in Korea the Equus costs alot more than it will in the US...so I'd rather get an E-Class :)

Equus' are relatively cheap in Korea especially the V6 base model which I believe costs around 78,000,000KRW. It's the German imports that are ridiculously overpriced, a E 300 goes for what, like 86,000,000KRW and what really gets to me is that a S 600 costs MORE than an SLS AMG.

you can't find any Hyundai logos on this car so 1.this car is not enough good to be a Hyundai 2.Hyundai is not enough good to put it's badge on it. in either way this shows something is wrong, and please don't start Lexus and Toyota game.Hyundai you can't earn my money and ofcourse you don't really need it !
