Toyota Prius MPV scheduled for Detroit debut (video)

The Prius XL

Toyota has announced plans to introduce the Prius MPV at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

While details are limited, the company stated the MPV - possibly called the Alpha - will have "more comfort, style and versatility" than the standard Prius. This means we can expect an extended wheelbase and seating for up to seven.

Power will likely be provided by a 1.8-liter petrol engine and an electric motor. This should give the car a combined output of 134 hp (100 kW / 136 PS).

More details will be released in the coming months, so staying tuned for continuing coverage.
