Next Wiesmann GT will likely get same power plant as upcoming BMW M5

More spy shots from automaker testing at the Nürburgring circuit, this time of the next Wiesmann GT going through some hard basic training.

Wiesmann is a German specialty marque which sources its engines from BMW. Underneath that classically-styled long and curvaceous bonnet the GT is probably packing a bi-turbo V8 from BMW - likely the same 4.4 liter bi-turbo V8 power plant that will go into the next (F10) M5. That engine rates at 585 PS (578 bhp / 431 kW) and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque.

The new Wiesmann GT is expected to be lighter than the current model through a more advanced use of lightweight materials.

As for new design cues, we will have to wait for more of the camo to fall away from this speeding GT. But with Wiesmann's design, you always know what you're going to get.

I liked this a moderate amount when it was first shown. Like a lot of these attempts that take several years to get to market, it now seems much less desirable with the passing of time.

what do you mean several years to get to the market ? Wiesmann is arround since 1993 and the MF5 is already a few years old. this is the mule for the second generation MF5. all their cars are great, they take the best bits from BMW and make them better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2gF4Q7HrUw
