Inching closer to production

Our spies managed to catch several new images of the 2012 Mercedes ML 63 AMG.

Undergoing testing near the Nürburgring, the prototype is wearing less camouflage than before. This allows us to see a sleeker front bumper, sweptback headlights, a tailgate-mounted spoiler, and AMG wheels. Like previous prototypes, this model has a dual exhaust but it remains unclear if Mercedes will drop AMG's traditional four-pipe setup.

Under the hood, power will be provided by a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 with 544 PS (400 kW / 537 hp) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. Backed up by a seven-speed Speedshift MCT transmission, the SUV should accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than five seconds.

The ML63 AMG will likely be unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, so stay tuned for continuing coverage.

Looking forward to it. Please don't drop the quad exhausts IMO they're better looking than any type of dual exhaust.

Nice. Respect to designers for saving traditional ML-style. They didn't make new ML angular like GLK, that's why it looks good, such as current model
